Single mom who recently split with her ex due to a domestic violence situation. When her ex left the home, he took her washer and dryer. Mom has 3 kids under the age of 5 in the home and is struggling to afford to go to the laundry mat to wash and dry clothes. Mom is in need of a washer and an electric dryer. Mom reports that she has the hoses for the washer and the vent hose for the dryer. Gently used washer and dryer would be greatly appreciated.

Single mother of 5 is at risk of getting her energy shut of due to a bill she is not able to pay. Mother is not able to work due to specific reasons. Family is waiting for more assistance from the government that they have already been approved for, so they will hopefully be better of soon.

This request is for two single mothers who have merged their households together to strengthen their support systems for their children. These two families have a total of four children under the age of 5. These two mothers are essentially starting over in a new apartment with no furniture and no basic necessities to run the household. One family was previously in a domestic violence situation that they are recovering from and are in need of community supports because the father destroyed all of their belongings. The other mother is trying to start over and enrolling in school. The families are in need of bedroom furniture, living room furniture and kitchen utensils. We know that all of these needs might not be able to be met but any help to support these two women and their children starting over would be greatly appreciated.

A family of 7 just came to KC from the Middle East and are working to get settled here in the States. Parents are doing everything they can to help the transition be smooth for their children as they start jobs and their kids settle in the last couple of week of Summer School. When talking with the family, help with food and clothing would be so helpful. With so much going on, gift cards would be the most helpful for them to be able to navigate to a store in a time that works best for them. Any help would be appreciated to help them feel welcome in their new home!

Clothing Support Needed for Children in a Caregiving Home

A local family is caring for three children with significant emotional and behavioral needs, while also navigating an incredibly difficult personal season—including the recent loss of a close family member and the anticipated passing of another loved one. Amidst the grief and daily challenges, they are doing their best to provide stability and care.

Mom and Dad had twins with one of the twins being born with a serious heart condition. The twins are now almost 5 months old however the one with the heart condition was hospitalized for 2 months after birth and received a heart surgery during hospitalization. Since going home he has been hospitalized 6 times and the medical team is recommending 2 more heart surgeries. The family is on board for surgery and doing such a beautiful job taking care of the twins, following all of the hospital recommendations. Dad is the sole financial provider for the family and has taken all his PTO (especially having to take additional days off during the unexpected admissions since going home). The family is now behind for June rent and they received an eviction notice stating that they must pay for June rent in full or they will get evicted. Dad and Mom are requesting an extension and asking for a payment plan but they remain approx $500 short. If a church is able to assist with up to $500 to help prevent eviction, the family would be grateful and the hospital would also be very appreciative of the support.

This is a family with a child with special needs in a Temporary Alternative Placement Agreement. The child is currently with her grandmother and the grandmother has to move from her current home and downsize. She is struggling to come up with the needed money for a deposit.

Fulfilling this request will help keep a grandmother and a special needs child close together while her father continues inpatient treatment. The girl is extremely bonded with her grandmother and is truly thriving with her and as her worker I want to do everything I can to help them stay together and keep them in stable housing. If this need is met, the grandmother will be able to meet ongoing months' rent and sustain housing.

I am a social worker working with a family in need of a stroller for her 3 month old infant. Mom does have car seat, but car seat does not have handles for Mom to be able to carry her child in the car seat. A stroller would help Mom to be more mobile with her child as well as help with daily living activities like going to the grocery store, doctor's appointments, etc. Thank you for your consideration of this need.

Two single mothers who are sisters recently moved into their own two-bedroom apartment with their 4 children, after experiencing homelessness and sharing housing with other family members. The families are in need of beds. Currently, one mom shares a king-size mattress (no frame or box spring) with her daughter age 8 and son age 6. The other mom has a twin bed (with only a box spring-no mattress or frame) for her 2 daughters, ages 7 and 3, and herself. They take turns sleeping in the bed and on the floor. School staff are donating a bunk bed frame and coffee table to the family. The families could really use 4 twin mattresses with bedding, so everyone could have more sleeping space and get a good night's sleep. Two twin bed frames and a king-size box spring and bed frame would be appreciated as well. The families do not have any living room furniture, aside from a small settee of cushions. They are in need of a sofa.

My mother is presently at Sheffield Place, who have a two-year-old who is in need of some new clothing and sandals. We are looking for size 6 sandals and clothes in a size 2T. Your support in helping us find these items would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Family of four (one mom, three teenage children) whose youngest son suffers from significant cognitive delays due to autism. He is prone to hyperactivity and aggression when frustrated. His constant supervision and care needs have put significant burdens on the family. The family is engaged with caseworkers, however, the son's aggression led him to break his mother's phone (Samsung Galaxy A16 5G) causing issues with the consistent communication needed to help coordinate his care needs across multiple areas. She has recently gotten it repaired but was interested in getting a durable case, preferably one with a screen protector to prevent her son from breaking it further as this has been an ongoing issue with her phone and other electronics in the home.

Finding safe places for teenagers with sensory issues and autism is so difficult. It becomes even more difficult when the cost of these safe places rise. A mother and father are requesting support to renew their community center membership for the year for their 3 children, two sons (14 and 11) and a daughter (9). The community center has become one of the few places their son with autism can find safety, connection, and tools to manage his anxiety and anger, while keeping the family together. It is a resource they utilize nearly every day. They appreciate your consideration.
