Critical Request
A child in foster care is in need of youth underwear with a cup slot, shin guards, and soccer cleats. He is needing to get into a sport to help with his emotion regulation and an emotional outlet. We have got him sign up for soccer- he is in need of some supplies in order to play. Soccer practice and the first game are on Sunday, April 1st. His current placement has 4 other siblings and is not able to afford these things for him. He wears size M in underwear. He wears size 6 in shoes. Sports Academy in liberty has shin guards for $5-$13 size S. Underwear with cup insert size M or youth 10-12. Soccer cleats size 6 for as little as $14.99. Doing this will allow this child to play the sport, build his confidence, team building, and allow him to have an emotional outlet.

I'm working with a single mom who is working towards reunification with her children. The items requested would be to help ensure the safety of the children. The items needed are child safety locks and outlet covers for infants. providing these needs for this family will help to ensure that mom can keep her children safe while in the home. Mom has had a history of domestic violence relationships and substance use and has worked really hard to obtain a safe and stable home and move away from those relationships that are unsafe to herself and her children.

This Park Hill student and his mother were involved in a situation that caused them need to leave their home to stay safe. They are currently staying in a hotel, and are hoping to find permanent housing soon. The hotel is working with the family to have a low rate, but money is getting tight. They are also in need of food, but the hotel they are staying in does not have a kitchen, so mom has to be strategic in what they get. In addition to that, the family runs a food truck, and is doing several events in the next couple weeks, and needs access to a kitchen once a week to bake to prep for that week's event. Mom is working in addition to doing all of these other things, and would be grateful for any help she can get.

Single mother in need of financial aid due to her three-year-old son being hospitalized for an extended period of time. The child's hospitalization is a result of severe physical abuse by mom's now ex-boyfriend. Mom's daughter has also been admitted for abusive trauma but is now ready for discharge pending mom's living situation. Mom moved here from Nevada in November to be with her boyfriend. Mom has no familial supports or friends whom she trusts enough to care for her daughter while mom is at the hospital with her son. A request for a monetary donation is being made so mom can afford an extended stay at a hotel. Biological father is on his way to help mother with childcare and will also be residing in the hotel. The goal is to house them for a week untill the daughter has a follow up appointment and can be taken back to Nevada. Mom has no mode of transportation and will need to stay at a hotel near Children's Mercy.

Leah's Hope is a 12 month transitional housing program that helps women and children who are homeless or facing homelessness. We recently accepted a mother who is working on a reunification plan to regain custody of her 3 children who are currently in kinship. She has some criminal charges against her from several years ago that she is trying to get cleared from her record in hopes of laying a completely solid foundation for the future of her children. The amount requested is not the total amount but any contribution towards this would help this young family tremendously.

Kristin: They can contact Kristin @ Youth Alliance(###) ###-#### ext.122) and do the safe sleep program & get a pack n play with a bassinet insert. Also does the foster family not get WIC? That would make the formula for the baby free??

There is a foster family in need for a young infant. This little guy has been having tummy issues since birth and deals with a lot of fussiness and constipation. Their household is single income with 3 kids so they have an extremely tight budget that doesn't allow for a lot of extra baby items. She is requesting some probiotic drops because they will highly benefit the baby but it's one of those extras that is simply not in the budget. Any help is welcome and appreciated.
