This Park Hill student and his mother were involved in a situation that caused them need to leave their home to stay safe. They are currently staying in a hotel, and are hoping to find permanent housing soon. The hotel is working with the family to have a low rate, but money is getting tight. They are also in need of food, but the hotel they are staying in does not have a kitchen, so mom has to be strategic in what they get. In addition to that, the family runs a food truck, and is doing several events in the next couple weeks, and needs access to a kitchen once a week to bake to prep for that week's event. Mom is working in addition to doing all of these other things, and would be grateful for any help she can get.

A student is enrolled in a dual credit course at our high school. A student found out yesterday that since their family can not pay the dual credit fee they will be dropped from this class unable to earn college credit. Dad already works two jobs to support the family and won't have money to pay this fee tomorrow. The student is incredibly bright and is passing this course with flying colors and wants to be able to earn this college credit.

The 14-year-old foster youth is placed with her step-paternal grandfather with her two other siblings. The child is currently in the 8th grade at Alliance Virgil Roberts Leadership Academy. The school is offering its students the opportunity to attend the Black History/Black College Tour 2023 in Atlanta, Georgia. The school trip will be from May 1-6, 2023. The school is paying for the hotel, food, and part of the flight expense. The school is requiring the students to pay for the remaining balance of $350.00. The child is asking for assistance with paying this school trip, as she does not have the financial means to pay for it. The child is very excited to be a part of this school trip. The Child has not given much thought to what college she wants to attend or what major interests her. This school trip can increase her interest in college. The child is the oldest of 3. She has the opportunity to be a good role model to her siblings. Caregiver does receive funding for the children but he uses the foster care payments on the children’s basic needs. The children’s father is homeless. The children’s mother is slowly increasing her financial stability after she was released from prison mid last year after serving 10 years. Its Confirmed that the amount students are being ask to pay is $350.00. Money order or a check payable to Alliance Virgil Roberts Leadership

We have a 12 year old female who is placed in a residential facility in Columbia, Missouri. Her family lives in Kansas City. Her sister and her aunt would like to be able to go and see their sister and bring her back on weekends once a month so that she can see her 5 other siblings. Family is really important to our youth and her being in Columbia has made it hard for her family to go see her. Her family does not have the financial ability to make it to and from Columbia often. The request is for gas cards so that the aunt or sister can go pick their sister up once a month for a pass to see her family. I can keep the gas cards at my office and provide them to the aunt or sister once a month.

DCCCA is working with a mother who has been homeless and living in a hotel for seven months. The family has been able to obtain housing and will be ready to move in this weekend. The last obstacle is paying off past due utilities so mom can connect electricity at the new home. Two of the children have been living with family and friends because there was not enough space at the hotel. Having this cost covered not only gets mom out of the hotel room, it will put the family back together under one roof. Mom has contributed what she can to the bill and has obtained assistance from community resources and this amount is what remains after other resources have been tapped out. Thank you in advance for helping this family get into a home and be reunited!

A 17 year old teen mom in foster care and her 4 month old baby need help getting a crib and crib mattress! Her baby is outgrowing her bassinet, and the social worker has told her that she must have a crib and crib mattress this week or they might intervene and take her baby or open a court case on her baby. Unfortunately, the mom is a minor in foster care and doesn't have available money to purchase a crib. Any regular size crib will work for the family but I found a convertible crib on amazon for $100 plus tax. Thank you!

Mother with five children, ranging from baby to teen years, is in need of beds and refrigerator. Mother has proactively complied with her case plan as well as tending to all her children’s needs. Children are now home with mother. Unfortunately, with mom’s already overwhelming tasks, the family's refrigerator is no longer working and all the food in it ($500 plus dollars’ worth) was spoiled. This makes daily life extra hard and costly for the family. Not having a working refrigerator will affect any home assessment the family likely will have. Helping this family with a new refrigerator, one queen bed and three twin beds will take off some of the stress mother is currently going through. It will give the children a comfortable place to sleep, as well as keep the family together. The goal is to maintain and preserve the family together, as mom has worked to do and lack of a refrigerator and beds should not come in between that. Thank you.
