Safe Families is working with a single mom of two year old boy recently fled from domestic violence situation and is in their own apartment. Mom is dealing with some medical issues that will require surgery soon and she is unable to work. The social security disability check was short this month, for reason still unknown. This left her short on rent and she was just given an eviction notice. Mom is taking steps to handle this issue to insure next months rent will be paid as usual. She is also working hard for the medical needs of her and her son. Helping support this family will keep them stable in their current living situation and prevent them from being homeless.

We have a foster mother that has really gone above and beyond to help a 13 year old boy with several disabilities, and there are 3 other children in the home. She's opened her home in order to take him in and even moved to the living room so that he can have her room instead. She's been struggling with some major home repairs and we've been unable to find help for those issues. We are asking for some help with her water/municipal utilities in order offset those other expenses. Her current water bill is $201 approx. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello I am needing help with fixing up a mother's car so she is able to see her children for her visits. This would help mom out with starting Trial Reunification so she can get her kiddos back home with her. She has been having difficulties getting to different towns to see her kiddos on a regular basis because her car is not in working condition and she does not have much family to help her when needed. All this car needs in a front left ball joint to get this car up and running! if someone is available to help fix this car up this will help mom get her children back home. The car is 2000 mercury MGL that just needs a left ball joint repaired.

Single mom of 5 children (8 and under) with very little support has recently left a Domestic Violence relationship of 10 years. As a result, she is in need of car seats, stroller or wagon, beds (two sets of bunk beds and a single twin), a rug (to damper the noise), and a dining room table as she left all these behind. For the car seats she needs 3 five-point harness car seats and two booster seats. She is hoping for 2 sets of bunk beds and a single twin, with mattresses and bedding. She needs either a stroller or wagon to get to and from places with her three boys (twins who are 5 and special needs and a three-year-old boy). We are trying to support this mom in any way to help her realize she can do this on her own.

Hello, we have a biological mom who is in trial reunification with her two children. She recently lost her job but quickly found a job so it would not disrupt the girls. She is a bio mom who is resilient and does everything she can to provide for her girls. She is short on rent and we don’t want her to lose her place of stay and cause a disruption to the girls placement

Good afternoon, Care Portal! We are walking alongside a family from Afghanistan facing some health challenges that could benefit from a few items, in particular a washer, dryer and a stroller. These items can definitely be used in good condition! This family is very sweet and the father is awaiting surgery in the next few months and unable to work. They have a 1 & 1/2 year old daughter. The family consists of a single mom and her three children (12, 11, and 8). She works two jobs to support her children, faithfully engages in domestic violence support group each week, attends weekly therapy, engages in parenting and healthy relationship education, ensures her children's needs are met, and receives no additional support from any other resources. Despite juggling all of these things, she finds time to maintain her home, advocate her children when they experience being bullied at school, and goes above and beyond to ensure they attend church faithfully every Wednesday and Sunday. She would greatly benefit from getting this need meet. She is currently in a payment arrangement with the electric company with a grand total of $965.92 (as shown on her bill she sent) but she only asked for help to meet this month's total due ($312.30). This family is so precious and seeing the growth they have made from day one to this very day is so inspiring. I would love to be able to let this mother know the community stepped in to meet her need. Thank you for your consideration!

Hello! I have a wonderful kinship foster mother who could use a little bit of help. She has placement of a teen, along with her own teen in the home. She works full time at a local mental health facility and also assists her adult daughter (who is disabled) with her own children, two of which are special needs. This lady has a heart of gold and would never ask anyone for anything but would give anyone her the shirt off her back. She lives in a small three bedroom rental and each time I have been to the home, she is so apologetic about "the mess". She is so embarrassed by the state of her home, which is just cluttered with stuff everywhere...clothes scattered about in the bedrooms, things all over the kitchen since it is so tiny with limited cabinet space. She has talked numerous times about how the home has absolutely no storage at all since it is an older home, and she knows the home needs some attention, but she simply has nowhere to put things. I offered to request a home organizer to come out and help her, but she said she is too prideful for that. But when I offered some dressers and storage items, she agreed. So that is my request...this client would be IMMENSELY grateful to have some dressers, and some shelving for their bedrooms/kitchen. This would help enhance the comfort and live-ability of the home for everyone and would take a load off her back. Any assistance you can provide to this sweet lady would be so appreciated!

We have a very loving family that is waiting on home approval and has not yet received stipend. Resource parent is having a very rough financial month and is asking for help with getting child placed some clothes. Resource parent stated child does not have any summer clothes such as, shorts and short sleeve shirts. Child wears size 5 in boys bottoms/shorts and size 6 boys shirts. With limited income, the family has been unable to afford furniture, leaving them to sleep on the floor with only minimal blankets for warmth. This situation has taken a physical toll on them, especially the eldest daughter, who recently secured a job to contribute to the family’s finances. Tragically, she fell while attempting to rise from the floor, injuring her knee and forcing her to take time off from work. This setback highlights the urgent need for assistance.

The family is seeking support to acquire beds, which would significantly improve their health, safety, and overall well-being. A small gesture of kindness could make a world of difference for this determined household as they continue to fight for stability and a brighter future.

Food Donation for Children at the Family Tree The OKDHS Family Tree offers a home-like setting for children awaiting placement. The Center is a safe, comfortable environment for children as the child welfare worker completes necessary paperwork and identifies a foster placement. Children often come in hungry. The Family Tree allows children to choose what they want to eat, giving them a choice when they do not have many choices. We have a list of possible suggestions but are open to any food donation that is easily prepared. The Family Tree has a refrigerator and can accept frozen or cold foods. Thank you for your help!
