A single mother of 3 needs help to repair her car's alternator. She uses the car for her second job as an Uber driver for extra income, which is essential to maintain to keep up with the family's expenses. One of the children is on the autism spectrum and has regular mental health appointments. Mom is also caregiver for her mother who lives with the family. She has to drive her mother to her cancer treatments twice a week. DCCCA located a repair shop that gave us an estimate of $550 for the alternator + install. Thank you for you dedication to the families we serve!

We are working with a family that could use a hand up at this time. Mom had emergency gallbladder surgery, resulting in 3 weeks off work recovering without pay. Dad also recently took a cut in pay, so this family is struggling financially. They are currently $447.31 past due on their electric bill. This is causing the family a lot of stress, as keeping the electricity on is critical in preventing the removal of their child from the home. Any amount toward this need would be greatly appreciated and will be a preventative measure to avoid the disruption of this well-bonded family unit.

Children’s Division is requesting assistance for a relative that is caring for 2 children on a safety plan. The children are currently staying with a relative, but is needing some assistance with Daycare while the children are in their home. The relative is paying $200 a week total for the children in daycare, while they work. The children were placed in their home as part of an emergency safety plan, therefore the relative was not accepting to provide for daycare on short notice. If the need is met this would help the relative financially until further arrangements can be made, along with Children’s Division and the family coming up with a more permanent solution

Single mom with 4 children is in critical need of a place to stay. She has triplets that are 6 months old and an 18th month old as well. She is getting out of a domestic abuse situation and will be out by the end of this week. She is a strong mother who is looking to turn her life around and get herself in a position to take care of herself and her children. We are looking to move her into a home that is very suitable for what will be best for her and her children. In order to do this, she is needing help to pay the rent. She has not been able to work due to the chaos that has been taking place. Paying the rent will allow her to move into this home and transition into this new life she has been hoping for.

Single mom with 4 children is needing assistance in paying rent. She has gotten behind because she has not been able to work due to her mother being in the hospital and then having to stay at home once she was out to take care of her. She is living paycheck to paycheck and needing help to get back on her feet. She is a great mother who is trying to take care of her children to the best of her abilities. Helping pay her rent would allow her to continue to take care of the needs of her children, like paying for food and other important necessities.

Mother and father with their 3 children (ages 7 months, 7 years, and 5 years old) moved to Kansas City from Houston recently and are homeless. We have been keeping them in a hotel for the past week and we are needing to extend their stay for an additional week so they have more time to figure out their next move. The parents are very dedicated in trying to figure out work and a living situation so they can go about and take care of their 3 children. We would love to bless them with another hotel stay for a week, and would appreciate any help!

A female child (5yo) has been in out of home care for 2.5 years after being removed due to mother's substance use, mental health, and physical neglect. Her father was not in her life at the time due to having contact cut off by the child's mother. As soon as he found out his child was in foster care he contacted who he needed to in order to re-establish a relationship with his daughter. He also struggles with substance abuse but has tested consistently clean for almost a year. He is working hard to get his home in working order for her to come home to him but is struggling to make his home safe as it needs a lot of repairs and he is behind on bills. Having his electricity bill paid off will help a lot with this process and hopefully get the kiddo home in the next few months.

I am planning on ordering it soon if that is okay and I can either have it shipped to you or shipped to me and then bring it to you. I am a music teacher so it makes my heart happy to help a student have a quality instrument to learn on! I hope this will help her!

Mother has a two year child who has severe special needs; he recently had G Tube Insertion procedure so he can eat more efficiently. He has trouble maintaining necessary weight so he is involved in multiple clinics at Children's Mercy Hospital and usually has two or more appts per week at CMH. He recently was accepted into Ability KC Pre School which means he will go to Ability KC Pre School each weekday for Occupational and Physical Therapy and care each day. He has medical diagnoses of Periventricular Leukomalacia, Brain Disease- death or damage or softening of the white matter the inner part of the brain which transmits information.... and Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia., Chronic Lung Disease of Premature Babies. The parents are responsible for getting the child to Ability KC Pre School each day. The Ability KC Pre School is a prestigious program that kids have to qualify for based on their medical needs and disabilities. The automobile that the mother has access to at this time does not belong to her and it is not running well. Mother is afraid that the car will break down soon, and she has no control over the owner of the car who is prone to leave the home and not return so she can take her son to appointments.

Our Agency has a 16yo male currently in foster care custody, placed with a kinship provider. The 16 yo male also has a 7 month old daughter who is not currently in foster care. Our Agency just learned that the kinship provider was evicted and the family is living in a tent. Total family composition impacted is 2 adults, 5 children, and 3 dogs. This kinship provider was working on obtaining guardianship of our 16yo youth. The family has no funds and while we would like to figure out a plan to keep the family together. We are particularly worried about our youth and the baby living outdoors in the extreme temperatures we have been having. We are hoping a church is able to assist in an Extended STay MOtel for a month while we try to plan around this crisis or assist with locating emergency housing for them.

This child has recently finally found a wonderful placement to live with who adores her and wants the best for her. This placement wants to include the child in everything that they do as a family. The whole kinship family had purchased season passes to Worlds of Fun before the child came to live with them. The family doesn’t want to leave her behind when they use their passes, but they can’t afford to purchase a season pass for her.
