Mother needs help with affording car repairs so as to be able to attend follow up clinic appointments to care for child with asthma. Mother has two cars. One is in the shop and not ready for use. Other does not function consistently. They have missed follow up appointments due to cars not functioning. Unknown how much the repairs would cost. Asking for assistance toward repairs.
Parents with three children are needing help with past owed rent. Dad is the sole provider and had his work hours lessened. The family is not making as much and spending funds for essentials - food, gas to get to work, etc. Family has paid some rent but needing assistance to cover the balance as their debit account keeps getting in the negatives. FP is working on budgeting and getting the family assistance. We are currently asking for a donation to put towards their rent so they do not get evicted or have more late fees added.
The reason for this request is to provide braces for a very deserving 15 year-old girl. Although her sister was provided funding for her braces through their biological mother, she cannot afford to pay for both sets of braces. Their aunt and uncle with whom they are staying, and will most likely be adopted by, cannot afford to provide her with braces. Although this is a cosmetic ask, it will greatly affect her confidence going forward as she finishes high school and continues onto college. She is a very social and active young woman who is manager of the high school wrestling team, is on the Student Council, and plays soccer. Not only would it gift her confidence, but it would relieve her family of financial burden as well. Thank you for your consideration.
A single mother of 5 has just gotten over covid and also had to get out of a bad relationship. She just moved into a new place and is in need of food, and bed sheets: 3 twins, a king, and a queen. She would also need hygiene stuff like bleach, body wash, suave deodorant, hair stuff, and clothes for the kids: boys size 6, girls size 6, 7, 9/10, 10 (all sizes are for tops and bottoms.

I am working with a single mom and her teenage sons. Mom's niece that lived with her and was more like a daughter to her died unexpectedly a year ago. Mom is experiencing significant grief and trauma surrounding the circumstances of her niece's death. She would benefit from some books that would help her navigate life after loss, including a daily inspirational book. I have located the following books on Amazon (you may find them cheaper elsewhere): - It's OK That You're Not Okay: Meeting Grief and Loss in a Culture that Doesn't Understand: - How to Carry What Can't Be Fixed: A Journal for Grief: - I Wasn't Ready to Say Goodbye: Surviving, Coping and Healing after the Sudden Death of a Loved One: ###-#### - Healing After Loss: Daily Meditations for Working Through Grief:

I am working with a family made up of a single mother and 5 children. The children love to read books and we have been able to provide them with boxes of new and used books. Because they live in a smaller home and share rooms, we are looking for bookshelves and toy caddies to help organize their rooms. These items can be used as long as they are in good condition. We are even willing to paint and decorate them with the children as a fun visit. If you have totes or organizing boxes that would help us get them organized, we would appreciate any donation! The children have been working on having daily chores and keeping the home clean. They are getting new beds soon and they are excited about having clean, organized rooms. Thank you for considering this request and for your continued support of DCCCA and the families we serve!! :)
We have a family that has a newborn baby that is in need of a pack n play. The family does not have a safe sleep environment and could benefit from this item to ensure the child's safety. The family does not have the financial means to get a pack n play.
I am currently working with a mother of 3 girls who is expecting her 4th this Friday with induction. She was not expecting to deliver this soon and has become overwhelmed with all the last-minute chores she needs to get completed to be ready for her baby. She is needing some post-partum supplies; such as pads, tuck pads, and nipple pads, and reports needing a breast pump. She reports being lucky to have all the baby items she needs but did not think about her personal health during the healing process. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi there! We are able to help with this request. I have a few questions: Do you have a specific list of all the items she is looking for? Most insurances will provide a breast pump either free of charge or at a significant discount- have you/she looked into that? Is she a single mom in need of social supports postpartum? We’d love to connect with her if possible and we’d be happy to provide her with freezer meals and other things to help her postpartum. thank you!

IIS is requesting assistance in getting a couch and a futon. IIS is working with a family currently residing in Independence MO. Due to a family tragedy and need for support a newly single mother of 2 has moved into her brother's apartment that he shares with his girlfriend. The family had recently had been given some items for their children that were unknowingly covered with bugs. The family has gotten rid of their couch for fear that it was also infested. They now only have a broken futon for both couch and sleep purposes. The single mother and her children are residing in the living room and using the futon as a bed however, she cannot lay it down all the way as it will always come back up to a ‘V’ in a short amount of time. The family does not currently have the funds to get these items themselves. Their car recently required a significant financial commitment and the family also is trying to save to move to a larger apartment as they are currently only in a one bedroom. The family has been working hard to recover from the loss of the children father back in May. Since then the mother has been working with her family on getting back on her feet. If this need is met they will be able to focus more on recovering, resting, and spending time with supports. As well as, focusing on their future together. Thank you for all the help provided to IIS clients!

A grandmother of a 2 year old boy is in need of a chest of drawers to store his clothing. I have tried finding something to be donated and have not been successful as she will need it to be delivered, as well. Due to this, I thought I would try requesting assistance with purchasing a chest of drawers to be delivered to her home. She has other children in her home and it is challenging to keep their stuff organized without storage. The grandmother recently moved and lost all of her furniture to water damage in her storage unit. Any assistance in this would be much appreciated. I have included a link to one that would work for her, which is the cheapest I have found. Thank you!
If desired, my friend has a shelf with plastic bins for storage. I was asked if I wanted it, but it doesn’t fit. If wanted, it can be delivered.

Single mother with 3 children recently left her job due to lack of transportation, child custody concerns and mental health issues. Thank you very much for considering assisting this single mother.
DCF is currently working with a single mother of one child that is in need of help with an alarm system for protection due to her being a collateral witness to a murder several years ago and having to testify. The individuals are out of jail and she is afraid they may know where she and her daughter live. She has been living in fear for sometime and through working with her this was an option for safety. This mother's mental health has been affected due to the ongoing stress surrounding her ability to feel safe in her home and surroundings. DCF feels a home security system would help in this matter and walmart has them for around $300. Any help in this area to help her feel safe with her child when home will be much appreciated.
A current foster parent recently took placement of a child with severe enuresis and encopresis issues. This child has since left the foster home as a placement, but the bed that the child used is not usable for any additional child and had to be destroyed. Requesting a twin sized mattress so this foster home can continue to take in additional children in need of a home.
