School Social Worker is working with a single working mom who is needing assistance with her Evergy bill. Mom just started a new job, and gets paid her first paid check next week. Mom has an agreed upon payment plan with Evergy, however, mom thought she had until May 28th to pay the 180.00 towards her electric bill, but found out that her lights will get shut off today if she does not get the 180.00 paid today. Please consider assisting this mom and her 2 boys with keeping their electricity on in their home. Electricity will be shut off at some point today if mom can't get the $180.00 paid. School social has checked with other resources and has no luck finding immediate assistance for mom.

5/22 @ 1420- SSW just touched base with mom who reported that she was able to get some help from a family member to pay the 180.00 to avoid the disconnect today however, mom still owes $255.00 by the end of the month. We are still requesting assistance of $180.00 which will leave mom with a balance of $75.00 to pay by the end of the month with her first pay check from her new job!

Family needs a couple items picked up from Sleepyhead beds. This would include a mattress.

I have a set of grandparents who now have their two grandsons living with them after their mom passed away a few months ago. The kids have mattresses, but they are needing bed frames, one box spring and a dresser. The whole family is still grieving and adjusting, and the grandparents haven't had the extra money for the frames and box spring. The grandparents make too much (barely) for food stamps and are trying to get a little extra help until they can get the legal side of things done for guardianship and then they are hoping to apply for food stamps again.

This request is to help a family in dire need. The family has been living in an apartment with extended family and the apartment complex is now requesting that the family leave as they feel that the family was there without permission. The family has two children, a 1 year old and a 4 year old. The family is in need of a temporary place to stay so that the children will have their needs of shelter met. I am requesting for at least 2 nights of a hotel stay to give myself and the family more time to figure out something longer term. A nearby motel for the family would be American Inn. I have checked and as of now they have rooms available. For the two nights the rate given to me was $174.92. I am requesting $200 to be cautious.

We have a family who is on the verge of homelessness and is late on their rent. It would be helpful to get her late bill covered and would relieve a lot of stress on the child.

I have a single mother whose phone has been shut off. Her daughter suffers from seizures and mom utilizes her phone to get ahold of nurses when she has concerns, to make appointments and to schedule Medicaid transportation for those appointments. Once this need is met this will allow mother to continue to be able to contact her doctor with any other concerns and be able to schedule follow up visits for her daughter.

16 year old teen girl is placed in a foster home in Wichita long term. However her aunt is in KC and is an ongoing support. She will be providing a week long respite while the foster home is out of town, but is limited on her income and has two other children of her own. She is needing support with groceries for the week while the foster child (her niece) is with her. Gift cards for Walmart, target, or other grocery stores are accepted or payment for groceries.

Clay County Children's Division is needing a few baby bottles for infants. There are times when children enter custody and are in the office while placement is being located. We need to have a few bottles in our supply room to assist if the child is young and no bottles are provided by the parents when the initial removal occurs. We are requesting 6 to 10 bottles; these can be used as long as they are clean/sanitized. We are also requesting small cans of formula for this same reason. Formula does expire, so we are requesting 3 small cans of formula. Individual servings/pouches of powdered formula work great as well.

I have a single mother of 4 whose water was disconnected due to paperwork was not provided to update water services at the home. Recently water was turned off at the home. The mother contacted the landlord, who stated the mother will need to pay at least of the outstanding water bill. The total due is 801.90. The mother is asking for $400.00 to restore the services. As the water has been turned off for a couple of days which has caused a minor inconvenience. Once the water is restored in the home, it will allow this family to continue with moving towards reunification of the children. Worker does have all necessary information for the donor to pay the bill directly to KC Water Department.

I am looking for help to reunify a family with their child. The father just recently started working full time overnights while the mother tends to their four children during the day. The parents are just getting back on their feet but struggling financially to be able to cover first and last months' rent. They are requiring some assistance to just get them into their apartment so we can start a trial home visit. The family has been homeless for a while and couch-surfing with relatives and that in itself has taken a toll on them. The mother is unable to work due to needing to supervise her young children plus the one child in care has very intense medical needs that require round-the-clock care. The father is trying to also during the day work with a friend of his, cutting grass and doing some landscape jobs on top of his full-time work to help bring in extra cash as fast as they can. I am hoping to help this family out with just the first month to get them started and give them that motivation to keep going. They will be able to afford the rent on a monthly basis but like I said we are just needing assistance the first month for them so we can get their child back to them in their home. The parents will be able to provide proof of a signed lease agreement as well.

Two children are currently in foster care placed with their maternal grandmother. The mother of the children has moved into her own apartment and is trying to obtain furniture for her two children. She has a 4 month old and a 16 month old.
