A youth that I am working with is doing everything in his power to be able to move back home with his mother. Due to his mother having a recent kidney transplant, finances are tight. I would love to be able to provide his mother with gift cards of any amount to Wal Mart and/or King Soopers to help her with buying him clothes, bedding, shoes, and supplies to have for him when he moves back home. A 14 year old boy was recently placed with his grandmother. Grandmother was recently let go from her long term employment and has struggled to get past the second (in person) interview. She was not planning to retire for a few more years and has been living on her savings, but it was important to her that her grandson not be placed in foster care. Grandmother gardens and cans much of her own food and tries to be frugal, but this placement was not expected. Grandmother would appreciate assistance with groceries as feeding a teen age boy was not in her budget.

I have a kinship placement, great great aunt who moved here from another state to take placement and care for her great great nephew with special needs. Kin placement maintained 2 households for several months anticipating moving back to VA with the child but it had taken much longer for the adoption to be put into place. Kin placement lost her job due to the needs of the child (school issues, he broke his wrist)and having to take off so much work. Kin placement is moving back to VA in July where she has support. Kin is requesting rent assistance for this last month they are in Colorado. Any assistance with her $2000 rent would be much appreciated. The apartment complex can take payment directly, a visa gift card could be extremely helpful, or any other resources. She will also have to cover her moving expenses so this has put a financial strain on her. She has applied for new jobs in VA for when she moves next month.

This family is need of support with groceries and gas. This is a single parent household and the parent recently left her job due to health reasons. There are two children in the home and the parent is asking for support. Your help is appreciated!

This youth was involved with DHS for a delinquency case and as this was wrapping up and he was successfully moving on to probation, experienced the sudden loss of his mother. His father is out of the home due to criminal charges and he his living with an older sibling and relative. The youth was significantly truant with school and the loss of his mother compounded this and he was at risk for dropping out. The youth decided to work on his GED and in May took his pretest and then went on to pass all four sections of his GED on the first try! The youth continues to struggle with his father's criminal matter and not having him in the home and is unsure of his future. He has requested a specific type of wireless earbuds as a way to celebrate his GED.

A grandmother who is caring for her 4 year old granddaughter is interested in getting her swim lessons so that she can have fun and be safe in the water. Grandmother has found a program that does swim lessons for $120 per month. Child would benefit from water safety.

This young woman's mother recently mother passed, so now she moved into her biological father’s place. The home is very crowded with her twin brother, two younger siblings, their father, and his mother. The CASA feels that it is important to give the young woman something special that makes the space her own, especially after all she has been through. Their father is working two jobs to stay afloat, and the CASA has been contributing with home improvement, but something new would be really nice for the youth.

I am working with a teenager who's foster placement was recently disrupted due to the foster parents getting divorced. The teenager is currently in a respite location but does not have all of her belongings including underwear, pajamas, and school-appropriate attire. There have been several meetings between myself and the foster family to retrieve items, however the youth still indicates she is missing many of her clothing items. I am request giftcards to take the youth shopping to get her provisions needed for her day-to-day life while staying at the respite while other foster options are looked into and investigated. Giftcards to anywhere would be great (Walmart, Old Navy, Target, Visa, etc.)

This family has been working with the Department for almost a year. Recent changes have impacted the family including the father needing to leave the home, losing his job, filing for bankruptcy, and losing his unemployment due to legal fees and other obligations. He continues to engage with the Department and all the requirements needed despite the daily challenges he faces. As he continues to do the work needed for his family and children, any assistance to help with food and snacks for the kids would be great!

This family has been working with the family for a couple months. There is an extensive amount of trauma that these teenage girls have been subjected too. As they make another transition in the foster care system, the foster mom could use some help with groceries. The girls on this case are trying to keep up with their extracurricular activities (horseback riding/showing) but with the recent change might not be able to keep enjoying the one activity that helps them cope with their current situation.

The family began with the Department a few months ago. The teenage girls on this case have had an enormous amount of trauma with their father passing away from substance use, mother abandoned them and is using substances, and their grandma recently passed away in August. They do not have any other family to take them. The grandpa has decided he no longer can take care of the children, and the girls have entered the foster care system yet again. The girls have struggled with another change but continue to try and be positive. With their current placement, they share a bunk bed with worn down mattresses. I am requesting two new small mattresses that will help them become more comfortable at their foster home.

A devoted grandmother has stepped up to care for her infant grandson, providing him with a safe and nurturing home after a sudden family crisis. She could greatly benefit from a small baby walker to help keep him engaged during the day, as well as a $50 Walmart gift card to purchase essential clothing, small supports that would ease her daily challenges and help her continue providing loving, stable care.
