Working to help foster parents cover damages sustained to their plumbing as a result of a special needs child flushing items down the toilet. Parent had to call a plumber out the day before their wedding. Plumber attempted to clear the system but plumbing will require additional repair. Estimated between $400-$800, to be assessed further as repair continues. This estimate includes $250 already paid for the inspection and clearing attempt. OKDHS would like to help assist the family with these unexpected costs associated with providing care to a child with special needs. Child in the home has autism and has recently taken to playing with the toilet. 3 Total foster children reside in the home, including a set of siblings.
Foster mother is caring for a 2 year old girl who is very curious and asks a lot of questions and her 1 year old brother who has the biggest smile. She is requesting assistance with Stride Rite shoes that is 6.5 or 7 in toddler size. Thank you in advance.
The family is currently involved in a Family Centered Services case to prevent potential intervention through the court system. The family is needing assistance with their utility bill to ease some of the financial strain they are experiencing as there are three children and the family has to get children to appointments throughout the week. The family's utility bill is currently $202 past due and any help would be greatly appreciated to alleviate one stressor in their lives.
Client in need includes natural mother and her two year old son. Natural mother is engaged in family time with her son and is dedicated to reunifying with him. However she does struggle with poverty and lack of transportation. She would love to attend her necessary treatment services but struggles finding a way to get there. Helping this mother with transportation via uber assistance would go a long way in ensuring she attends treatment which would assist her in reunifying with her son. Her and her son have a strong, loving bond so reunification for this case is key and lack of transportation right now is a major barrier.
Two foster children are entering new placement and are in need of a bunk bed, 2 mattresses, and bedding. The two teenage girls have moved around from home to home, and unfortunately do not have any sheets, blankets, pillows, or other bedding for themselves. The girls will be sharing a room with each other and would benefit from having a bunk bed (and mattresses) in order to save space.
A new foster parent, older in age, took placement of two teens who are infested with head lice. She is overwhelmed with all the washing and cleaning of the home. One child who has very thick hair has to have it professionally treated at the lice clinic, as well as have a haircut. This is a major expense, along with all the continuing of washing. They will receive a discount for having Soonercare.
Please help us strengthen this family. Grandmother has taken in three of her grandchildren. Grandmother is now taking on the responsibilities of getting the children to and from school, counseling, as well as other daily tasks required for the children to be in her home. She is currently two months behind on her car payment and in need of assistance to bring it current before her car is repossessed. Please bless this family!
An adult sister has placement of her teenage sister and her biological 3-year-old daughter. Foster care payments have not started yet and the teen is eating a lot more and adding to the grocery and electric bills. Her current electric bill is $281. Any help with this older sister-turned-foster mom's electric bill would be a blessing for this family.
A foster family is in need of assistance with their electric bill. The foster parent is currently struggling with finances and has not been fully approved for foster care maintenance payments at this time. Any assistance would help this family maintain placement.
OKDHS is currently working with a young man who has exceeded the limit for replacement glasses this year that are covered by the Oklahoma Healthcare Authority. He would benefit from having a backup pair because he is all-boy and can be rough on them. Without his glasses, he squints and struggles to read, which would lead to issues in the classroom. There is currently a "bundle" deal going at a nearby eye doctor where you can get two pair of glasses (with bi-focals) for $140.07. We felt that this might be a great option to help him get through the remainder of the year! If you or a group could assist, we would be very grateful! Thanks so much!

Is it possible to upload his rx and get the glasses from a website? Eyebuydirect.com or Zenni.com sells prescription kids glasses starting at around $20… just thought I would pass this on in case the family didn’t know??

Hi! I have a sweet girl on my case load who has recently started playing the flute. The family she is placed with is in need of assistance paying for the flute monthly. The family would be extremely grateful to any financial assistance that could be provided that would go to the cost of her instrument.
Hello! I have a father who is in need of an assessment at DVIS! This father has fell on some hard times with his truck breaking down and losing his employment. Due to this he does not have the money for the initial assessment which is $95 dollars. I am in the process of getting him a bus pass but it would be extremely helpful if his assessment could be paid for as it is part of his service plan. If anyone is able to help out this Dad it would be much appreciated! Thank you!
Mom needs help with getting a twin bed for a growing young boy. He has outgrown his toddler bed. She is on a very fixed income and is doing everything she can financially just to run the household. If this young boy receives this bed he will be able to comfortably sleep in a twin size bed and no longer in a outgrown toddler bed.
My client is a single father who lives with his great grandmother and the grandmother has been paying all the bills while her grandson works his DHS case. His two, 2 year old twin children are in Trial Reunification with the father and he is a wonderful, loving father to his children. However, the father has struggled with maintaining employment. The great grandmother has supported him and the children for the past year and has run into financial struggles due to this. She has asked DHS for help with her rent this month. Her rent is $650. DHS is hoping two churches could split the cost and pay $325 each. This grandmother will do anything for her grandchildren. She is so embarrassed that she had to ask for help as she has always been able to pay her rent. Thank you in advance for helping this family.
I have a foster family who has had placement of a 2 1/2 year old most of her life. They recently took placement of her one year old brother. Foster family is asking for a double stroller to help get these children around. This is especially important as the one year old is not really walking well yet and is quite heavy.
Worker spoke with a biological mother who the department is working on reunifying a 15 year old child with her mother. Biological mother has done everything asked of her by the department which includes multiple UAs and services. All of this have been recommended and not court ordered. Biological mother is willing to do anything asked of her in order for her child to return home. She is needing additional assistance such as a dryer. Her dryer went out and she does not have the funds to buy another one. She is also needing a lock box and a medication divider. This is to help with her 15 year old daughter medication once she is placed in the home so that her daughter takes it as prescribed and not as any self- harm attempts like she has done in the past.
This request is to provide back to school clothing assistance for two children. The children will be attending Tulsa Public Schools where they will need uniforms and potentially school shoes. The children are the following; 9 year old girl, size 8/9 shirt and 6/7 pants ; 7 year old boy, size 7/8 shirt and 6 pants. Both children were recently placed in trial reunification with their natural mother after almost two years of being in a foster home. The family would welcome any assistance whether it was through purchased clothing items or a gift card. We would welcome any amount of financial assistance for the newly reunified family.
Currently a mother engaged in a Family Centered Services case is working on getting out of a domestic violent relationship. She is currently waiting to hear back from an employer to start work and was able to get her child enrolled in daycare. This parent is currently needing $75.00 for the tuition cost, this will help keep the child in daycare and provide support for the family.
I am currently working with adoptive parents who adopted their son 7 years ago. He is now a teenager and has extensive mental health needs. While they are exhausting their efforts to help find appropriate services to address his mental health needs, they have also acknowledged learning more about parenting teens as a whole could be helpful for them in the future so their family can function safely. These parents have enrolled in Active Parenting for Teens, but do need assistance in paying for the classes. The class is $120 for both parents, so a total of $240 would help them get started. Any help is appreciated in getting this family back to a positive place. Thank you in advance!

I am currently working with a family who has taken in their infant cousin for a kinship placement. The infant is doing very well in this home and is ready to start daycare. However, this kinship foster mother has been unable to find a child care facility that has an opening for an infant that will accept the DHS stipend. Therefore, at this time, this foster mother is paying out of pocket for child care costs for her infant foster daughter; additionally, this foster mother has three teenagers of her own that are involved in extracurricular activities, so adding in the expense of child care when it was not planned has been a strain on them. DHS is making attempts to help as much as possible financially until this foster family begins receiving their monthly stipend to help care for the child by covering other bills so they can more easily afford daycare services as well. This family could use assistance with their water bill, electric bill, and their natural gas bill. Water Bill: $210.89, Electric Bill: $201.00, and ONG bill: $89.00. Any help assisting this family would be very much appreciated!
