I am currently working with a single mother and her one month old baby. The mother has no work and currently is in critical need for formula for her baby girl. The baby has enough formula for today as yesterday we were able to provide her with a can . Baby will be needing formula for the next couple of days till she is able to have her wic appointment on Tuesday of next week. Please, please, help me, to help this mother who is in critical need. The formula she is currently using is Gentle infant-formula, purple label. we are requesting two or three cans if possible. Thank you for your constant help with supporting our families and case workers. God bless you!!!!!
Yesterday we took into care a sibling set of 6 that we were able to place all 6 together and with family. The kids came with very little to no items and the relatives have has no time to prepare for their household being over doubled within hours of the kids coming into care. The ages and sizes are as follows
The sizes are as follows:
Girl 3-6 months
Boy pants size 29 and large shirts/hoodies
We are in need of everything for these kiddos. clothes, shoes, toys, beds, diapers, wipes, baby supplies, formula, car seats, baby gates, outlet covers everything, and anything would be helpful for this family.
This family of 6, are very hard working but they don't have some basic necessities, such as beds. At this time they are sleeping on the floor and still managing to work and go to school every day, having beds would really make a difference their daily lives, especially for the children to have beds to sleep in.
I have a houseless family in need of financial assistance for maintenance on their car. One parent is working full time and relies on this vehicle to get to and from work, the store, and kids appointments. Since the family is houseless, they are paying an outstanding amount each month to afford their hotel. They do not have any extra funds to take care of their car repairs. The family needs an oil change and brakes for their car.
This single mother of two, works really hard to provide for her children, but when the children were home while the mother was working, the children made her pots and pans into toys for their enjoyment. The mother had only a few pots and pans and silver ware before the children's fun day and now she has very little. It would help this mother out tremendously to have her plates and bowls and a couple of pots and pans were replaced.
DCCCA is working with a single mother and two teenage children who have recently moved and are needing some basic items for their home as they reestablish themselves. Mom is disabled and cannot work and the family lives on a fixed income and are not able to make these extra purchases on their budget. Gently used items would be accepted. Thank you.

work for the family?
This 14 year old boy has been in care for over two years. He moved bounced around a little, before finding stable placement with his siblings in March of 2021. He has an 8th grade field trip to Washinton, DC coming up in April (with payment due in December). This youth is a great kid. Once he got into a stable and loving home, and was able to find the right dosage of medication, he has thrived. He does well in school, loves playing sports, and he has a very humble and kind personality. He would really like to go on this trip, and his foster family would really like for him to be able to join his classmates. They need some help to make this happen. The cost of the trip is $1,609, and that is a lot for the family to take on, especially since they have five other children in the home.
Two children are being reunified with their father after he was released from a stretch in prison. The children are very excited to be with him again and he is working on making their house a home. They are in need of two twin sized bed frames and mattresses for the kids. Any help is greatly appreciated!
We have a kinship placement that has a one-year-old female. They have had her since she was a newborn and are in the final stages of adoption. Yay! She is becoming very active, and we are requesting a playpen for the family. They are currently not using daycare and have been a very conscientious, loving place for this baby and we would like to help if we can. Playpen can be gently used. Thank you so much for taking the time to read!
Father of 3 needing assistance with paying for gas and groceries. The family has just recently gotten into an apartment after living between a car and a hotel for months. After utilities and rent were paid no money remains for gas to get the kids to summer school, to pick up groceries, and get Dad to work.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated
A family with 3 children is in need of assistance to pay for the father's surgery, so that they don't fall behind on rent. The father is the only source of income for the family, so recovering from surgery will also impact the family's income and ability to pay bills.
We responded to a CarePortal request for this family back in September. Bio family had just reintegrated with their two female children ages 5 and 4 and were needing help with rent and two dressers. We were able to connect on both of the needs and met this sweet family in person to deliver the items. Soon after, a car battery installation was needed and before we even had a chance to have one of our volunteers get over there to help, dad had already taken care of it himself. They have a strong desire to be independent.
We have been staying in touch with them and they recently let us know that the vehicle had broken down for good. Thankfully, they have another car they can use if the past due payment on it is made. They are able to afford the monthly payments on their own, they just need help getting caught up. Any amount is appreciated and will help get them closer to self-sufficiency again.
As a previous worker at Children's Division I know first hand the stress and hard work these workers go through. I would love to spread some love to the local Children's Division office downtown KC by supplying them with an Ice Maker. This seem like a small thing but they have been needing an ice maker since I was there 2 1/2 years ago and even before then. They have an older fridge that they have some ice trays in the freezer but that is not enough for everyone to add some ice to their beverages. An Ice maker would be a huge blessing to these workers as they can grab ice and water on their way to their next visit. They could grab ice for the soda donated to them from churches.
I have done some research on ice makers and have found a few that could work for their break room space. I am asking $500 for the ice maker and an additional $500 to help cheer up their break room adding new chairs, tables and items to make it feel more inviting and comfortable.
These items could go a long way for these workers and just in time for the hot days coming up! Thank you!
A single mom with an 8 year-old boy and 9 year-old girl coming out of homelessness after losing disability benefits and are in major need of funding for utility bills. Dad is an addict and not in the picture and uncle on dad's side is helping them get stable. They are staying in an empty house owned by a relative of the uncle and he is paying their rent for now but they are living with no furniture, water or electricity. There are past due balances and activation fees on the electric and water that need to be paid in order for them to be turned on, totaling almost $1500, but any amount helps! We are hoping the CarePortal community can contribute some funds to help get the utilities turned on for this family.
A single mother with two sons, 10 yrs and 7 yrs is in need of assistance with rent. This mother of two loss employment brought on by the pandemic and struggles with getting a job. This has caused her to fall behind in her rent and is urgently in need of assistance to avoid eviction.
We are working with a single mom with 3 children and has been homeless for about 5 months. She recently found employment and is doing her best to get back on her feet. Unfortunately her car has recently broken down and is at risk of losing her job. We helped her get her car in for an assessment and unfortunately the repair costs exceed the value of the vehicle. We are looking for a vehicle donation, or to raise the funds to cover the cost of an older Explorer model along with any additional costs for repair of the replacement vehicle. Reliable transportation is so critical to helping families regain and sustain stability; we would really love to be able to bring some good news to this mother. Thank you so much for considering this need!
We previously helped this family with light bill from a CarePortal Request (53051) - a single mom of an 8 year-old girl with severe anxiety and seizures, and a 6 year old boy with a variety of medical issues leading to immobility, obesity and developmental delays. Mom works literally around the clock to provide all of the extra care they need, on top of having her own medical issues she is trying to address for the first time in years. Since the original request, we have been getting to know the family and providing additional items as needed. Mom is very sweet, thankful and responsible and it has been a joy to support them. She never wants to ask for help but recently shared that bathing her son at his size is very difficult and taxing for her, and that having a special showered and chair would be a huge help and relieve a lot of the stress around caring for her high-needs son. Additionally, their AC went out over the Summer so we are looking for funding for a window unit that was provided to them. Thank you for any help you can provide!
