Critical Need
Single mom with 4 children is in critical need of a place to stay. She has triplets that are 6 months old and an 18th month old as well. She is getting out of a domestic abuse situation and will be out by the end of this week. She is a strong mother who is looking to turn her life around and get herself in a position to take care of herself and her children. We are looking to move her into a home that is very suitable for what will be best for her and her children. In order to do this, she is needing help to pay the rent. She has not been able to work due to the chaos that has been taking place. Paying the rent will allow her to move into this home and transition into this new life she has been hoping for.

Single mom with 4 children is needing assistance in paying rent. She has gotten behind because she has not been able to work due to her mother being in the hospital and then having to stay at home once she was out to take care of her. She is living paycheck to paycheck and needing help to get back on her feet. She is a great mother who is trying to take care of her children to the best of her abilities. Helping pay her rent would allow her to continue to take care of the needs of her children, like paying for food and other important necessities.

Mother and father with their 3 children (ages 7 months, 7 years, and 5 years old) moved to Kansas City from Houston recently and are homeless. We have been keeping them in a hotel for the past week and we are needing to extend their stay for an additional week so they have more time to figure out their next move. The parents are very dedicated in trying to figure out work and a living situation so they can go about and take care of their 3 children. We would love to bless them with another hotel stay for a week, and would appreciate any help!

I am currently working with a teen that has started a lot of different services for mental and medical health. With multiple appointments and gas prices, there as been an increase in the cost of travel for the mother that she was not expecting with her income. I am asking for a donation (of any amount) to go toward a gas card to help the family afford the gas for transportation to and from these multiple weekly appointments. Thank you for considering this request and for all your support in our community. I am amazed as the support our cases receive through CarePortal and cannot thank all of you enough for stepping up to help us work with families to achieve their goals!

Mother and father with their 3 children (ages 7 months, 7, and 5) moved to Kansas City from Houston recently and are homeless. The job he came here for fell through. With this extreme heat going on, we are trying our best to keep them in a cool, safe living environment. We are looking to have them stay at a hotel for a couple nights until we can come up with a long term plan for this family. By helping them with a hotel stay, we can allow them time to figure out their next move. We would also love to help them with groceries and other necessary items!

Help Support a Youth Aging Out

Normal Request
There is a young man on my caseload who is 16 years old and has been in foster care for 3.5 years. This young man will eventually age out of the foster care system. Despite his situation, his mother relinquished her rights due to having a higher priority of her substance use and his father's whereabouts are unknown, he is a hard working individual. He participates in extracurricular activities such as sports at his high school and He is enrolled in honors classes. He helps take care of his little sister since his placement, his grandmother, is having unexpected health issues that have arisen. He recently began working and works late at night. His placement (grandmother) as stated before, has some unexpected health concerns, and sometimes those late nights are rough when having to pick him up from work and bring him back to placement. He is a part of the big brothers big sisters program and his big brother told the young man that he (big brother) would match up to a certain amount that this young man saved up, to help him put towards a car. This young man never asks the case team for anything. For Christmas, he asked for shoes. Shoes were all he wanted for Christmas. I believe he is one of the most amazing, kind hearted, well rounded kids that was handed a bad hand of cards. As his case manager, I think he is deserving of learning that there are kind and caring people in this tough world. I wanted to reach out further to see if there are any resources that could donate to his car fund. Knowing this young man, the amount donated, whether it is $5 or $500, he will be extremely grateful. While I cannot change his situation, I can and want to do whatever I can do to help him succeed in the future.

I have two young children who have come into care and placed with grandparents. This family needs some items to redo a room for these babies to have an appropriate bedroom. They also need a cover for their wall LP heater and a fence for their pool to meeting licensing requirements. This is the second time theses children have been in care and Children's Division would really get the below items for the grandparents to ensure we can keep these babies in this home. The family is in need of the following items to make this work for the 3 & 4 year old grandchildren: *two gallons of any color of paint along with a gallon of Kilz. *9'6"x9' rug for the bedroom * 26"x6'3" rug for the hall *Cattle panels or some fencing to put around a 15' pool with a door opening *metal grate or protector to put around a wall LP heater. The dimeson of the heater is 42" tall and 28" in width. This will need to be curved or squared since the heater is mounted to the wall. * Size 6 diapers for the children. * Couple gas cards to help with transportation to daycare until funding can start through the state. Grandma drives 30 miles one way. *Twin bedding for a boy. He likes Paw Patrol. *Twin bedding for a girl. She likes princesses. Anything would help out. You can reach out to the case worker Kamryn Staley(###) ###-#### or her supervisor Kristy Barker(###) ###-####. Updated on June 16, 2022 by an Agency Worker
The family is still in need of the wall protector for the LP heater on the wall. They also need the rugs for the floor and paint for the room. The family has found bedding for the kids. They also have had a fence built for the pool.
