The family just had a newborn and is needing a bed, parents are currently sleeping on air mattress.

My kin caregiver is currently caring for her (2) 19-year-old great nephews who arrived separately in 2006 and 2019. She has since adopted her great nephew who arrived as a 6-month-old infant in 2006 and currently cares for her great nephew who was placed with her at 14 years old in 2019. The great aunt lives on a fixed income and serves as the sole provider to her household of three. Recently, a large split began forming on the family’s dining room table from wear-and-tear and the table has started to wabble. As a result, the table no longer provides a safe, stable place for her nephews to eat their meals. Additionally, an ergonomic, adjustable computer chair is needed for her great nephews’ bedroom, as their current computer chair has incurred significant wear-and-tear. Due to her limited resources, along with recent economic hardships, replacing these items poses a significant challenge for my kin caregiver. Assisting her with a dining table (approximately 56.25” length x 36” width x 36” height) and an ergonomic, adjustable computer chair would not only ensure that her great nephews have a comfortable place to enjoy their meals and entertain themselves in their downtime, but would also enable them to bond with one another.

Single mother of 2 young children with a baby due in June. She was homeless but was able to move into housing and keep her children with her. She is in need of 2 car seats for her kids, currently she is unable to drive because she cannot afford car seats. She is a great mom that has worked hard to give her kids a new life but now she needs to make sure she is able to transport them safely. Here are the links to the type of car seat she is needing. These kids have experienced a hard life, and we would love to see them thrive and feel safe and this is a great start to aid in supporting them. Young woman who just aged out of foster care and moved into her own place is needing a few items to get started in her new place. specifically needing a microwave to have in her kitchen. Thanks for the much needed support!

We have a young mom in our program who recently aged out of foster care and is also working hard to reunify with her toddler son who is currently in foster care. When she moved into her apartment she was given some handy down furniture, however, there have been concerns that the furniture isn't safe. She would like to get a new (or used) couch that is safe for her toddling 1 year old.

KINSHIP. Maternal Grandmother was the Legal Guardian of her 11-year-old grandson. Last month the 11 yar-old died by suicide. The caregiver is grief stricken at this time and in need of support. She asked for assistance with groceries in the form of a gift card to WinCo Foods. The family can utilize all avenues of support at this delicate time.

Kinship. This family was affected by the LA Wildfires and this is for Disaster Relief. Kin Caregiver is currently caring for two teenage boys, and the family was displaced due to the LA wildfires. The family is currently staying at a motel. The home did not burn down but it was damaged, and they had to move out. The landlord has the caregiver in limbo because the landlord is not sure what she will do with the property. The caregiver is paying for 2 rooms nightly which totals $160.00 before taxes. Paying for the rooms, food and gas has been a lot for her. The caregiver stated that she is need of assistance with housing, gas for her car (ARCO) funding for groceries ( Walmart or Food 4 Less), the hotel rooms daily payment as well as clothing and hygiene products for the two teenage boys. She is not working right now but wants to find employment. She receives funding for the boys. She also stated that it is difficult to find employment right now due to being displaced. She is requesting the following: hotel assistance- $500, grocery gift card to Walmart or Food 4 Less-$400, gas gift to Arco-$200.00, clothing and shoes for children- $300.00 (each child) and gift card for hygiene products- $100.00 (each child).

Good after all, I have a request for help from a bio family striving to stay together. Currently, this family of four is living in a shelter (Family Promise of Greater Wichita, 1111 St. Francis, 67214) They have been able to secure a perfect home to move to, but are looking for help with the deposit of $150. This is time sensitive and are looking to move in on Thursday, May 15th. We at KFAN are making this request to help improve the safety and wellbeing of the children.

We are working with a single mother of 3 young children. Mom has been in the system before and has huge trust concerns with DCF. We were able to break down some of the barriers and mom accepted help for the first time. Mom finally located a job and walks everywhere. She is needing a stroller for her two youngest children.

A 15-year-old has had braces on and was supposed to get them taken out in January. The doctor will not do this until full payment is made on the braces and the mother has been struggling to manage financially so money has not been able to be allocated to the braces payment. Her due amount is $218 and the youth will be able to get them out. She wants the braces out so she can have a comfortable feeling in her mouth again.

Good afternoon all, I am reaching out to our prayer family to request help addressing the immediate need of this expectant mother and child. This mom is striving to preserve her family unit. KFAN is requesting assistance from the CAREPORTAL participants to help the family move into a secure, safe and sanitary living environment. This assistance will keep the bio family from being homeless and prevent her young child from going into States custody. Staff members have contacted The Red Roof Inn and negotiated a cheaper nightly rate for a two week stay, while other resources are being sought. We are looking for any assistance that would help this family get into a safe place. The negotiated price is $450 per week, including tax.

We have a family who is really struggling. There are 4 children in the home all middle school aged and younger. They are requesting assistance with their electric bill that way they can still cover their other bills. The full amount for their electric bill is 310.54. However, anything would help them to get back on their feet. They have fallen behind on their phone bill and rent as well. If they received assistance with their electric bill, they could cover their other bills without having to prioritize any of them over the others. Thank you!
