Single working mom of 1 teenage boy currently staying with family 30 minutes away from his school due to AEP cutting her electricity off prior to her being able to work on a solution. Mom has attempted to get other solutions and is maintaining other bills at this time. Mom is driving her son to and from school at this time and child has good attendance. The total bill is $1,219.84 but to restore services it is $1,047.74.

Single mother with 3 teenage children with the oldest (15) being special needs (wears diapers and nonverbal) and youngest being 12 working to get better housing for herself and children after recent separation. Mother has found a place and landlord and is awaiting a confirmation. Mother has money for rent but needs assistance with the deposit as she has a lower paying wage in food service industry. The deposit is a month's rent of $895.

We have a mom and two kids that have been displaced from their home. They are currently living in a motel and would appreciate any assistance with next week's motel bill. They are looking but unsure when they will be able to leave the motel to find permanent housing. Any assistance for this family is greatly appreciated!

I have a father who recently returned home from rehab. He went to his mother's home to avoid relapsing in a familiar environment of where he was using. His children had to return back to his care quicker than expected so there has not been time to get benefits and things for him and the children. Due to their sudden return, he needs help with groceries until SNAP can get established.

The children are four and five.

The children like spaghetti's with meatballs, items to make spaghetti, chicken nuggets, mac and cheese, hot pockets, milk, and eggs. As well as any other items that would be useful!

We have a mom of four kids in need with her electricity bill. She was on a payment plan with AEP but missed a payment, now owing the full amount. They do have a disconnection notice for May 14th. Any assistance to help this family is greatly appreciated!!

The Department is working with a family who is in need of a small used push lawn mower for their lawn. The family has limited income and the landlord does not provide mowing services.

There is a young couple with 2 small children we are involved with. The youngest child is on a wait list to be assessed for Autism and is nonverbal. The father has been unable to land a full-time job and does odd and end jobs as he can find them. The mother is on disability, recently lost her mother, and is now having to care for her aunt who is on hospice. This family has had a lot thrown into their lap recently and it has overwhelmed them. They are in need of cleaning supplies including trash bags to help them get their home back to normal. This family also had their washer and dryer go down almost simultaneously and the vehicle they have is completely broken down, so they are not able to go to the laundry matt to do their laundry. This family is very kind, and they love their children so much it radiates from them. Cleaning supplies needed- Dish soap, sponges, carpet cleaner, mop detergent, trash bags, gloves, bathroom cleaner, kitchen cleaner, toilet cleaner, other supplies I may have forgot to list. A single working grandmother is raising her two young grandchildren. The family is low-income, and the youngest child needs a twin sized bed frame in order to get his mattress off of the floor. He has asked his grandmother for one for a few months and she simply is not able to afford it along with caring for all of the other needs of the children. The two children are as sweet and polite as can be.

Grandmother and grandson whom she raises live in a home with no central air, they stated they were cold most of the winter due to using a space heater and could really use a couple portable fans before summer fully hits to keep from getting too hot.

A single mother living in the Hillsville area of Carroll County is in need of repairs on her lawn mower or of a lawn service that is within a reasonable rate. This mother has two special needs children and as the weather continues to warm up, she will need to keep her lawn maintained. She is unsure what may be wrong with the mower but believes it can be repaired. She also has an outside spigot that is leaking water and causing her to have a large water bill each month. The family would benefit from any repairs that could be maintained.

A student and his parents are evicted from their home effective April 30, 2025. The present plan for the student is to stay with his brother while parents live in their car. Parents may be able to stay at a nearby campsite a couple of days a week to have access to showers and other facilities. Assistance with non-perishable food items and some cold food items that can be kept in a small cooler is needed. Additional assistance with a couple of nights each week in a local hotel (preferably the one in Independence) will be helpful so parents can have access to basic necessities, and the mother can get to work in town. The family is on a waiting list for a local apartment in in the Independence town area. The anticipated availability is within a couple of weeks. The father's cell phone will be turned back on April 30th as he is searching for employment.

The Department is working with family who is assisting with the care of two children. This is requiring the family to transport the children to different areas around the community. This has placed a financial burden on the family.
