Help Remove an Educational Barrier for a Child

Normal Request
We have a single mom to four children. She is currently working two jobs to help ends meet; however this is still not enough for the family to get by. One of her kiddos who is a full-time high school student has started a job to help pay for some of the bills. When mom is at her night job, the same student is in charge of caring for the other kids in the house (dinner, bathtime, bedtime, etc). We have been able to rearrange the student's schedule to accommodate her need to work and help watch her sibling's at home. However, this new schedule means more online classes and the family is currently without internet or the ability to purchase a computer for the online work. She needs these resources in order to stay on track for graduation. Any help that you can provide this student would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Help Support a Youth Aging Out

Normal Request
A youth in the emancipation program has requested a gift card for Christmas/his birthday. He is currently working toward his independent living goals and is residing in a host home. He has no ongoing communication with his birth family and all of his support comes from his professionals and host home provider. He struggles with following social queues and has very limited informal supports. He has recently found some stability with his host home. His primary goal is to become a chef. This year, he has been able to begin his first job, finish high school, and complete driving school.

Dina: We'd be delighted to contribute towards a portion of his gift card, with the hope that our support aids him in achieving his goals. Additionally, we are eager to assist by sending a care package to the agency to have you all give to him in support of him as he ages out. Please contact us via email if this arrangement is feasible. This request is for $925,00 gift card to Auto zone. The mother, 12yo and 16yo daughters have moved out of their home due to safety reasons. The 16 year old child has a jeep that is in need of repairs. They have a family friend who is willing to do the repairs but the family needs to provide the parts, we are requesting a $925.00 gift card to Auto Zone to cover the cost of the parts needed. The 16yo has completed high school and works 30-40 hours a week at Wal-Mart, her work day ends after buses run, so she needs a vehicle to get back and forth to work. Due to the unforeseen circumstances of needing to find a new place to live in a hurry, the family can not afford these repairs. And it has been difficult for mom to provide transportation due to her own work schedule. The girl's father lives in eastern Colorado, so the girls need a working vehicle to visit him at his home because he does not drive. If this need is met the 16yo will be able to continue to work and also start at the community college. This would also help the girls visit their father.

A biological mother is requesting a YMCA membership so that she can have her weekly parenting time with her daughter out in the community. A YMCA membership would allow for this mother and her daughter to swim and play basketball together during their visits. Their time together would be more fun and meaningful. The child already has a membership. We are asking for a 4 month membership for now. Thank you! We checked YMCA's website and the join fee is waved for adults right now!

15 yo female is placed in a kin like placement. At this time she has one end of the basement as her room, the area does not have a wall or a door. The family has 4 other children living in the home and this is the only appropriate space for the child to have her own space. A family friend who is a contractor is willing to put up a wall and door for the child to have their own privacy and is donating their labor but are requesting the $500 in materials to be covered. This would help to preserve this placement as a long term permanency option for this young woman. Requesting a $500 gift card to Lowes or Home Depot to purchase the materials.

The department is working with a family and all kids were removed from moms care. Mom is currently homeless and trying to get back on her feet. In order for mom to get caught up financially, she will need help paying for a hotel room at Laquinta for one month. We are asking for gift cards to pay for this. With a stable place to live we are hoping mom is able to get back on her feet and take steps towards reunification with her kids. She is greatly appreciative of any help. Thank you! Mom priced out how much it would cost to stay in this hotel, and with taxes it is just under $2000. Thank you for your consideration

This family has an infestation/cockroach problem and they don't have enough money to get the house sprayed. There are many members of this family residing in this mobile home and there are also 4 children residing in the home and the grandparents are now their legal providers. Grandparents reported that they have sprayed, set traps, and have done what they can to get rid of the bug infestation but they have been unsuccessful in getting rid of them on their own. The cockroaches are getting into the food and crawling all over their mobile home, and it scares the children. In order for the children to be healthy, eat well, and for the infestation not to spread in the mobile home area, the house will need to be professionally sprayed multiple times. Also, Grandfather wants to get rid of all the items, junk which has accumulated in the house and the yard. A big trash bin is needed in order to get rid of all the junk where the cockroaches also accumulate. Grandfather will coordinate the fees with his trash company and he will make the arrangements with pest control. Gift cards to pay for this, is what the family is asking for. Thank you and God bless!

The department is involved with a single mother who is requesting assistance with paying her trash bill. The mother is engaged with her team and actively working through her treatment plan. She has two children a 4 year old (F) and a 14 year old (F). The mother is unemployed but she sells items on the Internet and takes care of a neighbors trash and yard to get money for food for her children. The mother is asking for assistance with paying her last large trash bill. She previously had two roommates so they had two trash bins and a recycling bin. She was recently able to remove one trash bin and the recycling bin to lessen the cost for her. This is the last large bill before the updates are put into effect and her trash cost decreases. Any help is greatly appreciated; thank you for your time and consideration.
