Help Preserve a Kinship Placement
Caregiver and minor needs the following household items and furniture; Twin size bed with twin size bedding for minor, a computer desk, 3-4 Stools for kitchen island, and Patio furniture for small balcony. The caregiver has been caring for the minor for the last 5-years since the murder of her daughter (the biological mother of the minor) by daughter’s previous partner (minors’ father); when the child was a toddler. Caregiver has had to mourn the loss of her daughter and has not been able to work as the murder happened in front of them (caregiver and child) and has been struggling financially to save money to purchase the household items and furniture for the new low-income apartment she was able to secure after a long year wait. Caregiver is committed to maintaining her family together and adopt the minor soon to provide permanency and stability. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is because the caregiver needs support to continue providing a safe environment for the child. If the family is unable to receive the assistance with the required household items/furniture the minor would have to continue to sleep in the same bed with the caregiver and the minor express wanting to have his own bed and area. This need is being requested through Care Portal because unfortunately DCFS does not provide these items. The estimated cost of the need/s being requested is approximately $1,255

Help Improve a Child's Wellbeing
I’m currently working with a young mother of two who has been doing an admirable job saving money in preparation for a move. She’s turning 21 soon and is focused on finding a home within her budget. Unfortunately, due to ongoing health challenges, she’s limited in the number of hours she can work.
There have also been delays in receiving support funds from DCFS, which has made it difficult for her to purchase clothing for her growing children. A gift card to Target or Burlington would be extremely helpful in meeting this immediate need. With this support, she would be able to continue focusing on her long-term savings goals.

One of our moms has a 5 month old baby girl that sleeps a lot better in a baby swing - and gives our teen mama some rest as she does other things around the house during naps. She doesn't have any "safe" sleep places currently for her baby other than her own bed, but she fell off once during a nap. She has no support and does everything on her own, so this would be such a gift to her to have for her baby!

Restoration 225 is partnering with Trinity Poway and Youth & Transition to collect high-quality backpacks for children in their program(program serves students and families experiencing homelessness). Our mission is to ensure every child starts the school year with a reliable backpack that helps them feel confident and ready to learn. We’re asking for new, solid-colored, waterproof nylon backpacks in the following sizes: 19-inch backpacks – for upper elementary, middle, and high school students 16-inch backpacks – for elementary students (K–2nd grade). Backpacks should be durable and built to last the entire school year. Please consider choosing trusted, long-lasting brands. We’re aiming to collect 75 backpacks total. Thank you, Trinity, for providing school supplies to fill the backpacks—we’re excited to have other groups join in and help provide the backpacks needed. Your support will be a huge blessing to these children as they prepare to head back to school with dignity and confidence.

Currently working with a single father who is in urgent need of financial assistance. He has been struggling since being laid off from his job and has been doing everything he can to make ends meet, but it’s been incredibly difficult. The stress of unemployment, his car recently broke down, which he had to repair in order to continue being able to pick up his two daughters from school and summer activities. Now, he’s falling behind on rent—he’s three months behind and can only pay partial amounts each month, just enough to avoid a 3-day eviction notice from his landlord. This situation is taking a heavy toll on him, and he is doing his best to stay afloat. He is in dire need of either a gas card to help with transportation or assistance with his overdue rent amounts. Any support, no matter how small, would make a significant difference in helping him and his children during this incredibly challenging time.

Help Reunify a Bio Family
A single mother is trying to reunify with her son and just started working in Riverside county. She originally lost her income when the child was removed, as she was receiving SSI for the child's special needs. Due to the child's complex needs the only foster home found was far from mother's current home address. She is also facing an eviction and financial struggles with taking food or clothing items for her child during her visits. She was able to purchase a very inexpensive used car from a friend with payments from her new job. She has already spent her first worked income on basic necessities and getting the car smogged and registered. The car now needs tires to be able to be driven safely. By assisting the mother with the purchase of the tires, it will allow her to maintain her new job, prevent her from being evicted, allo wher to continue completing her court orders and allow her to meet the foster parent half way for more visits with her son to help her reunify with him. Any donation woul dbe appreciated. See link for Walmart tires. Go To Link

This request is being made urgently for rental assistance and to prevent future eviction. It concerns a single mother whose newborn baby was injured by the child's father, who is currently incarcerated. The mother is working toward reunifying with her baby. Although she does not have employment at the moment, she has interviews lined up for evening work. She is also exploring with the department and 211 for any assistance they can provide. She is dedicated to her child and attends all of the baby's appointments, which means she will need to balance work with staying connected to her baby's care.
The mother needs $1,900 to cover her rent for July. Any assistance that can be provided would make a crucial difference in her situation. Being evicted or trying to find stable housing while working on the reunification process could complicate her case and hinder her ability to reunite with her child

Mother contacted the Management to see what options are available for her to work with them and not have eviction.
Mother was informed that she has credit of $400 for over payment on another month.
Mother needs $1,500 by the 3rd to avoid eviction. The management company is willing to work with her and give longer time to come up the full rent amount and work out a payment arrangement, but Mother must give a payment before or by the 3rd. Please consider donating, even if it is not the full amount this will help mother not be on the street.

Thank you to our community for the generous donation. An anonymous contribution of $300 was made to assist the mother in need. I have attempted to contact her to provide this information and to check if she has been able to gather additional funds. Unfortunately, it appears that she still requires $1,200 to cover this month's rent.
The mother has had several job interviews and is hopeful about gaining employment soon, but she still needs support to keep her apartment during this transition. Please consider donating to help her and her family stay housed. Thank you for your support.

Help Improve a Child's Safety/Wellbeing
This devoted caregiver -65-year-old great aunt—has recently welcomed her 12-month-old nephew into her home. Living in a small senior apartment with limited space, she is doing her best to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the child in her care. Currently, the child’s car seat and stroller were kindly donated but are extremely worn and no longer fit properly. The bulky stroller also takes up most of the child’s play area, limiting his ability to move and grow. Due to recent car expenses and low income, she does not have enough funds saved to purchase a new car seat and stroller. This request is for a combined infant/toddler car seat and stroller—known as a “travel system”—which would not only greatly improve safety during travel, but also free up much-needed room at home for the child, encouraging healthy physical development. This would make a meaningful difference in their daily life and help the caregiver shift her focus on engaging in child enrichment activities in the community, and continue providing the best care possible.

Help Strengthen a Bio Family
A victim of domestic violence and single mother of three children who completed a parenting, DV program, DV support group and individual counseling is achieving independence and about to have her DCFS closed by court next month as she has been able to keep her children safe. However, as she navigates the journey toward financial independence, she is also adjusting to the rising cost of living and having her children home for summer. Mother has been resourceful with applying for Cal Fresh and viisting local food pantries but is still running low on food this summer. This is a challenging time for her, and any assistance for the family would greatly be appreciated. Family is in need of a food gift card to Walmart or any other super market in the area to help feed the children fo rtherest of the summer.

Help Strengthen a Bio Family
Youth is a 14 year old who boy recently was placed back with his mom on a 60 day trial. Mom has medical disabilities that make it hard for her to do some tasks. Now that Youth is back in the home, we are asking for assistance for mom with hauling away old furniture to clear out space, moving furniture to accommodate Youth and also an adult sibling with special needs that is moving into the home, and cleaning and painting the bedroom. This family would benefit from support from a community that wants to be hands on and engage with them.
The haul away is for furniture and could likely be done with a pickup or truck for a community that wanted to meet the family and help in that way.

Help Preserve a Kinship Placement
The clients are grandparents in their 60s, and they’ve been the primary caregivers for their 2 granddaughters (ages 16yo and 8yo) for the last 18 months as their son (the bio-dad) passed away. The bio-mom has unfortunately not been able to provide care to the girls, as she’s dealing with mental health issues and substance use disorder. When the girls first came into the clients’ care, the family was able to financially meet most of the household’s needs, despite being on a fixed income. Both grandparents receive social security benefits, and that was where most of the family’s financial assistance came from. However, in April 2024, Grandma’s social security disability funding stopped. Grandma was able to get her social security disability funding back in January 2025 (for the full amount previously awarded). Unfortunately, due to the 10 months where social security funding was stopped, the family fell behind on their finances. The YMCA Kinship Support Program was able to provide financial assistance for back-rent owed, but we’re hoping the family can receive financial assistance so that they get caught up on their past due SDGE bill ($383) AND the family can receive some new, comfortable bedding for the girls (a twin-sized sheet set and a full-sized sheet set). The clients have already expressed their gratitude for any financial assistance that can be provided.
