Hello, I am an Intensive In-Home specialist with Cornerstones of Care, and I am currently working with a pregnant mom and her four children (ages 4,3,2, & 1 year old) to help prevent removal. I am making this request on behave of the family to help family overcome financial barriers. Recently the family experienced a traumatic life-threatening event, that lead to one of the children being hospitalized. Thankfully the child has been able to make full recovery and is home now.
Due to this event family was referral to our Intensive In-home program to help strengthen bio-family and keep children safe. While working with the family I have discovered that mom is in need of some safety items like a car seat/booster seat for her oldest child. Mom shared that she has car seat for her other three children however, not for the four-year-old. During my program I have went over car seat education with mom and due to child's age, weight, and height she very much so needs to be in a car seat/booster with back. But family does not currently have the financial means to buy one. Therefore, I am asking for your help. By helping this family get a car seat you would be helping mom overcome financial stress as well as ensure child is safe while riding in a car.
Thank you for your help.

Hello, I am an Intensive in-home specialist with Cornerstones of Care, and I am currently working with a young pregnant mother (age 23) and her four young children (ages 4, 3, 2, 1 and unborn child). The family is in need of a pack-n-play for the baby who may be here in the next couple of weeks. Helping family meet this need will ensure that baby has a safe space to sleep and help family practice safe sleep habits. In addition, family could use two baby gates to help keep children out of the kitchen and bathroom. As the children are very young and mobile and like to climb on things. Mother has shared that the two young's children often climb into bathtub and turn on water. This could be very dangerous, as children could unintentionally slip and hurt themselves and or turn on hot water and get burn. A baby gate will help keep children out of the restroom. Lastly, mom has asked, if possible, to get a baby tub for the new baby. She shares that, this is one of the last items she needs for baby and would appreciate the help as her financial situation does not allow her to buy this items.
The mother does work however, does not currently have the financial means to buy these items.
Any help is very much appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read the request and for all that you do.

I am a school social worker at Gerner Family Education Center. Our building services ages 3-5 all of which have a variety of needs that are accommodated via special education or meet income requirements for our programming. One area that we have seen as a huge need is for diapers and pull ups. Because WIC limitations and the every rising cost of these items, we have experiencing several families that are not able to provide the appropriate amount of pull ups and diapers to meet the needs of their child. We have had several families that have to stretch their diapers beyond their use time which is causing potential skin rashes and overall discomfort for our already disadvantaged children. By having a supply of readily available pull ups and wipes for classroom and parent use would drastically fill a huge need. The size of diapers are as follows: Size 1 (infant) 2 boxes
Size 3T, 4T and 5T pull ups... Enough to give one box to each classroom. Happy Bottoms has been a great resource however with a need this large they are not able to assist.
Special Instructions:
The size of diapers are as follows: Size 1 (infant) 2 boxes
Size 3T, 4T and 5T pull ups... Enough to give one box to each high need classroom (we have around 10 high need classrooms)

I am requesting utility assistance for a family who is close to having their electricity shut off. Mom suffered a stroke and was out of work for several months while she recovered. Because she is a single mom, the family was without their main source of income, and was unable to keep up with their bills. They are now facing a large bill she is unable to pay in full as she has not yet returned to work. She is near to being fully recovered and will return to work soon, but is needing assistance in this short time in between. This utility assistance will ensure the family's electricity and provide great financial relief as she returns to work and is able to recover financially as well.

Family of 7 is lacking transportation to and from medical appointments, work, and a grocery store. They live out in the country so a bus pass will not be sufficient. They just bought a car and do not have enough to pay sales tax to get it registered. We are estimating sales tax and registration to be $150. The family is also struggling with mice in their home.
We are seeking a card with $150 for sales tax and registration as well as a few mice traps.
Thank you.

This family had their water shut off. There was a leak back in April and May that the landlord fixed, however, there was miscommunication about the over due amount and who was responsible for the over due amount between the family, the landlord and the water company. The water company will not negotiate to work with family on a payment plan because the water is officially shut off and they can not do a payment plan if the account is in shut off. The total amount owed is $4313.46. Mom is able to pay $1000 on it and she has reached out to another resource that said they would pay $600 if she found a way to come up with the other amount. Mom also applied for the LIHWAP and will be waiting to hear back but that can take up to 30 days. Mom has reached out to several other agencies that have shared they are unable to help. Mom is very interested in budget counseling to ensure this does not happen again.

Good afternoon, DCCCA is currently working with a single mother who struggles with a fracture vertebra, she also has a son who has diabetes and other medical diagnosis. He often needs treatment and has multiple appointments. This mother lost her job due to severe spinal issues and is currently doing the best she can with what she has. This worker apologizes in advance for the amount we need, but I would not ask for such, if I did not know her true situation. Unfortunately, her car needed multiple repairs causing her auto repair bill to be $1950. The mother is asking for support with $500 dollars that can be paid directly to the shop. Mother is also open to speak with donors and find other solutions if needed. Thank you for your ongoing support. We wouldn’t be able to do our jobs without you.
This young adult is a Little Brother in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program in Kansas City. Recently his family has had financial struggles since his mother is a single parent who works at a factory in Kansas City and is unable to support her child with driver's education despite working over 40 hours per week. The hope is to help this young person obtain a driver's license so that he can get to school and work with more ease. Currently his mother has to drive him everywhere. He is completely dependent on his mom's schedule and often has to walk to get to his job that's over an hour away (walking).

A grandmother is the primary caretaker of her three grandsons, one of whom is already adopted and the other two are in the process of being adopted. In June of 2023, the family lost their home to a fire and were unable to save any personal items. They have recently found housing and have some furniture, but they are needing more. The family is needing a full size mattress and bed frame for the grandmother, 3 dressers for each of the boys, a tv for the living room, and a washer and dryer.

The Jackson County Children's Division is looking for support for a mom and her six children. The children have been on a trial home visit, which is the step before the custody being returned to the mom and the case closed for the past two months. Mom currently works two jobs to support the children and get adjusted to all of the bills that come along with having four teenagers come back into the home.
Unfortunately, mom is struggling to pay the electric bill after the high temperatures this summer, her air conditioning breaking, and a pipe breaking in her basement which made her other utility bills spike and is currently at risk for the electricity being shut off. Mom is working hard to get set up on the repayment plan so this does not happen which is $500 and she has been able to obtain $250 of that within the past week. The shut off date for her electricity is anytime between September 26th-October 26th, according to the notice I have seen.
Any help for this family would be greatly appreciated as we do not want there to be any further barriers for reunification for this family that is working so hard. Thank you for all you do for the families of Jackson County, Missouri and beyond.

Single mom with 4 children (3 in school) is not currently working due to not having child care and no money for gasoline. She is struggling to make ends meet and is worried that it will impact her children. In order to help her get on her feet, she indicated that she is in need of Huggies diapers size 5 (due to an allergy), gas cards, and size 10/12 clothes for a girl and size 1 tennis shoes. Family starting trial home placement. Four boys from 1 - 8, single mom. The family needs a kitche table with four chairs (baby has a high chair). In addition, a booster seat for the 2 year old would be helpful.
THe apartment has a bar counter wth two chairs, very high and difficult for the boys to use as a table. It is not a safe or family like arrangement for meals. Mom wants to eat meals together to begin building family bonding. Mom works full time, pays her own rent and day care, making money tight.

Mom has a Section 8 voucher for housing. However, she is in need of the deposit to be able to move in on October 1, 2023. She is currently enrolled in school, a 7 week phlebotomy program. She is doing well on her case plan tasks. This will help the family move closer to reintegration. Currently, the children are placed with their aunt. There is a strong family unit of support, they just do not have the funds to help her with this financial need.

I have a bio family who is in need of immediate assistance with an energy bill. They have received a notice of disconnection in 5 days. There are two kids in the home and mom is expecting but having a difficult pregnancy. As she is of advance age she is struggling with high blood pressure brought on by her pregnancy. She is unable to work full days and medical team is encouraging bed rest. She shared that she is overwhelmed and terrified thinking about having to take an extended maternity leave without pay and having looming bill over the families head. In applying for LIHEAP they instructed her to wait until receiving a disconnect notice from the energy company but then was later denied and now is left without a means to pay.
"I just can't stop worrying about everything which is exactly why I can't get the blood pressure under control, the only cure is delivery but that 15 weeks away. I can't continue like this I really need someone help."
This mother has overcame so many barrier to provide for her children. She has completely turned her life around and has never stopped loving and caring for them. She has always keep the children's best interest at hear even when it was not favorable outcome for her. She completed substance use treatment and has been sober for over a year now. She is a wonderful person who just need some extra support at this time.
