I have been working with a great grandmother, who has a 17-year-old female that has been placed with her for over a year. The grandmother lives on social security. She was living in income-based housing but recently had to move, as the apartment complex became dangerous. People were breaking in and the complex had issues with bed bugs, rodents and cockroaches. The grandmother found other housing and recently just moved in. She did not take many of her items, as she did not want to bring any bugs to her new home. This grandmother has guardianship of another female child and babysits her two grandchildren all day, five days a week, for free so their mother can work and attend college. She is a blessing to everyone she knows and is always positive. She is a wonderful woman, and we are hoping we can give her a little help in the form of a gift card to Walmart or some way to purchase brand new bedding, towels or any other items she may need. The whole amount does not need to be filled. She would be appreciative of any amount given. Thank you for all you do!

A single mother of one is working hard to get back on her feet after facing a series of serious health challenges, including Lupus, Hypertension, and a pending breast cancer diagnosis. These conditions have significantly impacted her ability to maintain employment and have added considerable stress to her daily life. One of her ongoing struggles is getting adequate rest, as she does not have a mattress in good condition. Additionally, her 10-year-old son often sleeps with her for comfort and security, as he is still coping with the traumatic loss of his father, who was a victim of homicide. This shared sleeping arrangement, while emotionally necessary, has further contributed to the lack of restful sleep for both mother and child. She is hopeful that support may be available to help her obtain a new mattress. Having a comfortable and supportive sleeping space would not only ease her physical discomfort and aid her recovery but also provide much-needed rest and a sense of stability for both her and her son during this incredibly difficult time.

This is a single mother of two, one 8-year-old and one baby. She is currently living in a situation of domestic violence and trying to get a place of her own. They live in an apartment now. Two weeks ago, police were called to their apartment. She has located a house in Raytown, and she can pay the deposit of $1250 but needs some extra help with the first month's rent which is $1400. Her parents will help her out until she can get on her feet. She currently lives on disability and child support, but being free of this person, she feels like she can get a job to support herself and the children.

Hello Care Portal. Our team is currently working with a family of four who have until May 31st to address their hoarding situation. There are two children in the home, and at this time, the house is not a safe environment for them. We are requesting support with a dumpster rental to safely dispose all unwanted items. Other necessary items include trash bags, six boxes, gloves, six large totes, mouse traps, and cleaning supplies. The mother in this family is struggling with severe depression, while the father is trying to keep up with expenses. DCCCA is working diligently to support the family's mental health and the children's mental and social needs. We truly need your support and would be honored to collaborate with multiple agencies, churches, and businesses to help this family stay together and improve their situation. Patient has medical complexities and has multiple monthly medical appointments that further add to the financial strain on the family. Patient will eventually need surgery and helping the family with financial needs will allow for parent to maintain patient's care without worrying about current financial concern.

Her light bill is past due and scheduled for disconnection by June 4th. On top of that, she is having a hard time putting food on the table for her three children. She lives with sickle cell disease and relies on disability income, which is simply not enough to cover these unexpected expenses and support her family. Despite her health challenges, she has done everything she can to keep going, but right now, she needs help.

I am reaching out with a special request for a special young boy in our community. He’s 12 years old, full of curiosity and hope, and he’s eager to learn Spanish — not just as a language, but as a lifeline to his identity and his family.

This child is Latino, and his older brothers speak fluent Spanish. Sadly, due to being removed from his family’s home at a young age, he never had the chance to learn the language they share. He's now in foster care, navigating a world of change and uncertainty. But despite all he's been through, he wants to learn — not just for himself, but so he can truly connect with his siblings and his heritage.

We’re looking for a Spanish-speaking volunteer from the community who could meet with him once a week — either in his placement home or in a local public space — to help him begin learning conversational Spanish. No teaching degree or formal experience needed — just patience, kindness, and a willingness to show up.

You would be making a powerful impact. For this child, Spanish isn’t just a language — it’s a bridge home. A way to feel less alone. A way to remember that he belongs.

This request is to help a family in dire need. The family has been living in an apartment with extended family and the apartment complex is now requesting that the family leave as they feel that the family was there without permission. The family has two children, a 1 year old and a 4 year old. The family is in need of a temporary place to stay so that the children will have their needs of shelter met. I am requesting for at least 2 nights of a hotel stay to give myself and the family more time to figure out something longer term. A nearby motel for the family would be American Inn. I have checked and as of now they have rooms available. For the two nights the rate given to me was $174.92. I am requesting $200 to be cautious.

A kinship home is hoping for financial assistance with summer camp for the youth in her care. This placement is a single mom of 4 and is currently the placement home for her 15-year-old nephew. She is needing the children in summer programs to keep them safe and busy while she continues to work and balances having 5 children out of school for the summer. There is an available spot for this youth at the Boys and Girls Club this summer but comes with a coverage fee that we are hoping to get covered. Providing this will help to take the stress off of thing single mom this summer and will help to keep this teen involved in appropriate summer activities.
