We are requesting support for a kinship/relative home who accepted placement of 2 sibling teenagers despite already having 5 children in their home; 4 of which are grandchildren they have guardianship of. They are in need of a twin mattress and a blanket/comforter. They have a frame and sheet set. One of the children came with no clothing whatsoever and still only has 1 pair of jeans at this time. He is size 29/30 in pants. The child has expressed he has never been able to pick out his own clothing for school so if a gift card could be provided it would be ideal, but any items would be greatly appreciated. Lastly, the family has expressed some stress regarding transportation needs due to several initial medical appointments for the child. If any amount could be provided through a fuel card I feel we would increase the likelihood of maintaining placement through this initial adjustment period. Thanks in advance for any help!

Kinship home has two children in a FCS case placed with them currently. The caregiver has stated they are needing assistance with their electric bill as it is getting closer the holidays and funds are low at this time. The caregivers are currently providing transportation for the children as the children are now in unsupervised visits with their biological parents. The caregivers are also taking the children to the required appointments and to school. Their electric bill was unexpectedly high equaling $350. They are needing help with the electric bill at total amount or any amount is greatly appreciated in effort to preserve this placement. Thank you for anything that can be provided to this family. This family suffered and endured a huge tragedy this year. Due to this, they have struggled with their finances since. The family is asking for help on buying food for Thanksgiving dinner. This is the first major holiday without their son. They aren't from Oklahoma, so their supports are very limited. They are hoping this holiday will bring some normalcy back to their children.

A young man, whom is in state custody, has been struggling with meeting his educational requirements. While in his biological home, school was not a priority, and he was frequently absent from school and was not encouraged nor required to obtain nor maintain passing grades. This young man had minimal personal belongings including limited clothing when he came into custody. Placement provider has been buying him clothing since the young man has been in her home, but with the weather getting colder, he is in need of warmer clothing as well as a winter coat. He has been in school and is making great progress during the 2023-2024 school year. Because of his absences in prior school years, he is struggling to maintain engagement and it was determined that he would be better served in an alternative education setting to allow him better opportunity to work at his pace. Part of the alternative education requirement is electronic, and computer based in nature. This young man has access to school computers during the school day but would like to have the opportunity to complete additional schoolwork after school hours. He uses a Google Chrome book at school and would benefit from a Chrome book in his placement to further enhance his education.

We are requesting support for a very new traditional foster home who increased their number of children for placement from 1 to 3 without hesitation as they learned of the dire need for foster placements at this time. They accepted 2 additional children (3 total) in order to help maintain siblings being placed together. They are in need of 1 or 2 dressers to accommodate the children's clothing. Any assistance towards this goal is greatly appreciated.

We have a kinship foster home that recently took placement of a nine month old baby. The family does not qualify for maintenance payments at this time, at no fault of their own. They are asking for help with getting some diapers and wipes for the baby. The baby is currently in size 5 diapers and the family has no preference on the brand. The baby does need to use Pampers brand wipes due to sensitive skin. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Our Agency has the opportunity to work with a young family who has just welcomed a beautiful baby boy into this world. Baby is currently in the NICU and the parents are in need of a new crib. A crib would help provide a safe space for baby to sleep in as discharge is in the near future. Any help for this family would be greatly appreciated. There is a kinship foster placement who has not yet started receiving foster care payments and has obstacles to maintaining stability with this placement through no fault of their own. This placement is a very young couple who has been doing the best that they can. They have been caring for brothers ages 3 and 1 year since August. The boys are thriving in the home. Sickness with the children has been a barrier to allowing the foster mother to work her job, which has taken away from their income. Any help with their mortgage or utility bill for the next month or two would allow the family to make it until that first payment comes though, hopefully in December. Should you be able to help, details needed to make said payments will be provided. Thank you!

There is a kinship foster home where recently the foster parent was in an accident and is in need of support for the child in custody that is already placed in the home. The kinship foster home is in need of a changing table as well as a toddler bed frame. These items will help reduce the stress of our foster parents and give the child in custody a bed to transition into. OKDHS worker found both items at walmart in the families area. See below for estimated value.

Single mom with 3 boys wanted to get new couch and loveseat for their home. Mom saved the money and purchased online. Mom thought items were going to be delivered the next day so she threw her old set away. Couch and loveseat never arrived and Mom found out she had been scammed. Mom is now unable to get funds returned and has no furniture in her living room and is asking for help. Mom and 2 of the boys are in services and attend regularly. Mom strives to give the children a stable, loving environment and this situation has created a hardship for this family.

Single mother on SSI is needing financial assistance to get her utilities turned back on. Mother is compliant with DHS and could be in the reunification stage with her children if she had utilities on in her home. Electric has an $827.00 past due bill and will require a new $250 deposit. Water is past due $285.00 and will require a new $150 deposit. Mother was on a payment plan with both of these utility companies, but she defaulted on her payment plans when she went to jail, resulting in her DHS case. The amounts are due in full and payment plans are not accepted. Mother is struggling to come up with these large amounts on her own while continuing to pay her rent and her court fines. Worker has a copy of the electric bill showing a past due balance of $827.00.

Two boys ages 5 and 2 are needing dressers to store their clothes. Kinship placement (grandparents) is not able to afford this expense. Grandparents are older and not able to work to afford this added cost. Family needs either one dresser that is big enough for both boys to use or two dressers for each boy.
A kinship home is in desperate need of help with some past due bills. The home took in two children, one of which is special needs, and there have been extra expenses with doctor’s appointments, gas, food costs, loss of benefits, and buying new wardrobes for the children. The home didn’t reach out because they didn’t want to lose placement of the children, and thought the stipend would be starting sooner. The home is almost fully approved, and the family has been doing everything they are asked in a timely manner. The kinship home has been amazing in providing care for the children and meeting the needs of the special needs child. Loss of this placement would be devastating for all parties. This is the first time the children have felt safe in their short lives, and have had all of their needs met.

A kinship family needs help with daycare costs incurred while caring for a family member's 1 year old baby while the parent was not a safe option for the child. The family stepped up for the child when no other family member was able to. The kinship family is on a fixed income as one of them is disabled. Therefore, the child needed daycare in order for the placement to work. Unfortunately, CCMS had some issues processing the daycare and the family had to pay out of pocket for a month and is unable to afford the large bill. Any amount will help. The amount can be paid directly to the daycare to help lower the bill for the family. If the bill is not paid, the child may be dropped from the daycare which could disrupt the placement. The kinship family intends to adopt the child as soon as legally able.
