Request: Support for Foster Family Temporarily Caring for Two Young Nieces

A generous foster family has recently stepped up to care for their two young nieces—ages 2 and 3—while their parents are navigating a medical crisis with a new baby in the hospital. This family is already providing love and stability through foster care, and this unexpected addition has stretched their resources even more.

She has been staying there after being kicked out of a shelter that was supposed to help her until she found more permanent housing and was allegedly robbed and manipulated by a service provider who took her money (which following a significant period of time was returned) and many of her items (which still have not been returned). However, Mother's section 8 voucher has been granted and she will be able to move into an apartment by the end of the month, but she needs to pay off her past due bills. This request is for assistance with her Spire Bill. Helping her with these bills will finally let the family have a safe home.

Parent of two Compass Elementary school students, as well as two children aged 3 and under, are needing assistance with a motel stay. Mom has been accepted for Section 8 Housing and is needed assistance paying for a motel, until she is able to utilize it in early July.

Needs estimation is based off of a per night stay.

This is a family with a child with special needs in a Temporary Alternative Placement Agreement. The child is currently with her grandmother and the grandmother has to move from her current home and downsize. She is struggling to come up with the needed money for a deposit.

Fulfilling this request will help keep a grandmother and a special needs child close together while her father continues inpatient treatment. The girl is extremely bonded with her grandmother and is truly thriving with her and as her worker I want to do everything I can to help them stay together and keep them in stable housing. If this need is met, the grandmother will be able to meet ongoing months' rent and sustain housing.

The mother in this case is doing really well and is starting to get more visitation/overnight visits with her son. The mother has a bassinet and pack'n'play for the baby but could really benefit from a crib as the child grows bigger.

client is 27 weeks pregnant. She got a job and saved up enough to pay for moving into a new apartment. She was previously unhoused and sleeping on a friend's couch. She needs furniture and items to use in her new apartment when she moves in. She needs a queen size bed frame and mattress, queen sized sheets and pillow, sofa, floor lamp, dresser, kitchen dishes and silverware, cooking pans, bathroom rug, towels, etc. She has a microwave and a shower curtain.

Request: Summer Shorts for 8-Year-Old Girl

A local family is caring for three children with very high-level emotional and behavioral needs. While navigating those daily challenges, they are also facing some difficult family health issues—making this a particularly heavy season for the caregivers.

One of the children, an 8-year-old girl, is in need of some summer shorts. She typically wears a size 7/8 (which are currently snug) or a 10/12 (which are slightly big), so stretchy styles or adjustable waistbands would be ideal. She loves all colors and has a very girly style—anything fun, bright, or floral would make her smile!

Meeting this small but meaningful need would be such a blessing to this family as they continue to pour themselves into the hard work of healing and stability. Thank you for considering how you might help meet a practical need during a very overwhelming time.

Sizes Needed: Girls 8–10 (stretchy or adjustable waistband preferred)

I am working with a low income family that has recently moved to Missouri with minimal personal belongings. Their home is very old and needs a lot of work which they are working on. To help improve their daily living and make the home safer for the two adults and two children within the home I am requesting some house hold items for the family. There is no air conditioning within the home so I am requesting a AC unit, however, they have small windows. So I don't think a window AC unit would fit. They are also in need of beds for both of the children, a boy toddler bed and a girl twin size bed with sheets, pillows, and blankets for both. The parents have a bed but do not have bedding for the queen size bed so I am also requesting sheets and blankets for them as well. Because they have small children in the home and are working on renovations I am also requesting a baby gate to help keep the kids safe. I was able to supply the family with some cleaning and hygiene products but they could use more. Such as a broom, mop, floor cleaner, cleaning wipes, etc.; and deodorant for the parents, shampoo and conditioner, and soap for the two children etc.

Family has recently experienced significant violence. The victim was targeted for his car. A tracking device was placed on it, he was ambushed, and shot six times. The shooting occurred while the entire family was home. The victim is currently hospitalized and will be out of work. The family is currently being relocated for safety concerns. The family is in need of groceries at this time, and to help the family focus on the victim's healing. They have been spending most of their time at the hospital. The victim is 22 years old. He was a contributing member to the family's income. Any help with groceries for this family, would be greatly appreciated!

This CarePortal request is to help preserve a foster care placement. This is a fairly new case in which grandma has grandchild. Grandma is struggling with being able to afford formula for the 5-month-old baby. We are in the process of getting grandma licensed so there is additional monetary support moving forward. In the meantime, grandma is asking for assistance funding Similac Total Comfort Baby Formula.

Family is currently struggling with making rent as mom has lost work hours. Mom works with a company and goes into client's home to help them with day to day living tasks. Due to the increased need for her to be out of work for her children's doctors' appointments as well as making sure her mental health is addressed, her client has fired her, and she is not working any hours at this time. The family does not have a strong support system and does need resource help. Mom and kids have healthy relationships with each other, currently the father is not in the home due to allegations of abuse. Mom is struggling as dad does not offer additional support with the children financially. She has requested help to get her through, and she will be able to pay months coming up.
