Support Needed for Our Student Self-Sufficiency Home

We are preparing to expand our Student Self-Sufficiency Home, a safe and supportive space for homeless and unaccompanied youth in Clay County who are 18 years old and working hard to finish high school. This home will provide stability, dignity, and the foundation they need to succeed—and we need your help to make it possible.

As we expand to serve more students, we are seeking donations of household items to furnish and equip the space. Currently, we are in need of:

2 refrigerators, 3 desks and 3 desk chairs, 1 Full Sized bed, 1 side table, and 1 dresser, 2 mattresses, 1 television, 6 pillows, 3 full-sized sheet sets and 3 comforters, 3 sets of towels and washcloths, 3 Set of Mattress Protectors, Household essentials such as laundry detergent, soap, paper products, and cleaning supplies

We kindly ask that all furniture be new or gently used, and linens and personal items (such as comforters, towels, and pillows) be new for hygiene and safety purposes.

If you’d like to support but do not have items to donate, gift cards to stores like Walmart, Target, or Amazon are also incredibly helpful and appreciated.

With your help, we can provide a safe and welcoming home for students who are determined to overcome challenges and finish their education. Thank you for being part of the solution!

Please assist this young mother and father of one. The father lives across town and would benefit from a gift to uber to and from the mother's home in order to visit his young child, he does not have reliable transportation. The mother does have a car but has to work, attend her own doctor appointments, and counseling appointments. Somedays, the mother does not have energy to transport the father as she is battling postpartum depression and simply lacks the energy some days to transport the child to the father or the father to the child for visitation.

Please assist this single mother of three with a gift card to help her purchase cleaning supplies and a laundry card to do laundry in her complex. The mother's home is in disarray and the mother could use financial assistance for the ability to wash soiled clothes (causing the home to smell), purchase detergent, bleach, garbage bags and load money on to her laundry card in order to wash clothes.

The grandmother has welcomed her grandson into her home. Resulting in her to not be able to gain employment as she is the caregiver to an infant. The grandmother is asking for assistance with food for the household. The grandmother is not picky and only requests no pork. While the child enjoys beech nut purees of sweet potatoes and carrots. It is suspected that the child may be allergic to bananas, so please no bananas.

The mother is reunified with her child. She recently moved into a larger apartment and does not have any livingroom furniture. She would greatly benefit from a couch and loveseat/chair, anything to help make her livingroom come alive!

Single mother just moved into her own apartment with her teenage son. She is in need of a queen size bed because son is outgrowing the smaller bed he has. Mother has a job but is pays the bills and there is no money left to buy extras.

A single mother working to rebuild her life has recently secured a new apartment for herself and her child. She has just started a new job and is determined to provide a stable and safe environment for her family. However, due to limited financial resources, she is unable to afford the basic household items needed to make their new living space functional and comfortable.

Clothing needs: Mother - Women's size 2-4 in shirts, 34 length in pants, size 9 in shoes Baby clothing - Boy 6 months: wears 6-9 month clothing

A young adult mother just entered Extended Foster Care on her 18th birthday this week. She has a young baby boy and is in need of a pack in play or crib (with mattress) as he is growing. She will need the sheets and mattress pad to go along with that. She is determined not to have her son go into foster care like she did as a baby. She wants to do what is safe and best for him. If you could please help her with this request. She is attending school to obtain her GED and wants to go to FSCJ for cosmetology.

Single mother recently moved to Florida from New York with her son abruptly. She is here with no friends or family to assist her in her time of need. She was running for her life from DV situation trying to get to safety with her son. They were unable to bring anything with them, so they are-in-need of assistance with clothing laundry detergent, household cleaning supplies and dish detergent. She is safe now and is ready to restart her and her son’s life in new place. She is staying with friends, looking for work, and possibly some training for a new career. Her income is very limited for now surviving on a Social Security Income for her and her son. We are very appreciative for any assistance for this family who has been traumatized trying to put the pieces of their lives back together. There's a young adult on my caseload who has aged out of foster care and is now experiencing employment barriers due to the need of a new car tire. This young adult has completed a CNA course and is slated to obtain employment in that field that is a bit of a distance to drive. Additionally, this young adult has a 5-year-old son that she also transports to and from school and having reliable and safe transportation is vital to meet the needs of this young adult and family. Further, this barrier also limits their ability to obtain and maintain consistent and stable employment which is a requirement of remaining in Extended Foster Care. Providing the young adult with a new tire will allow them to continue to be mobile, safely and accomplish their goals both in extended foster care and in life.

Single mother with one child was recently a victim of a tragic event that caused her to have to leave her home abruptly. She and her daughter were forced to leave their prior residence due to rent becoming too expensive. She had secured a place for her and her daughter immediately with a friend. After some time, she was asked to leave because her time there had run out. She is now living with her mother and sleeping on her floor until she can save enough money for a new affordable place of her own. She is a working part-time and taking care of her daughter looking for full-time employment to secure a new residence. We are requesting some assistance with clothing, household goods, and hygiene products for both mother and daughter while they are saving to get back on their feet and create a new life for the family. Single mother with 4 children was displaced due to some major plumbing issues in her home. She and the children suffered major losses with personal items, furniture, other home essentials, and clothing due to the plumbing issues in their new home. This mother and children had just moved into their new home after being homeless for quite some time. She used all her earnings to acquire her new place and furnish it. With this recent debacle, she now must replace just about everything. God just recently blessed her with a new job so that she will be able to maintain her new place for her and the children. We are requesting 4 twin mattresses, 1 twin bunk bed frame, couch, and table and chairs. If possible, bedding for the beds. We are so appreciative of any assistance offered for this family.
