The children came to the attention of the department in 2017 due neglect by biological mother and the biological father who at the time was incarcerated. FR services were provided to the father and for some time the father was doing well, had overnight visits, but relapsed leaving the children orphans. The children have been placed with relatives since the time of detention with the case now being in the adoption process. The children are very excited to participate in Wildcats football & cheer for the summer, which the caregivers do not have the funds to pay for. Children would like to participate in the 2023 Wildcats football and Cheer season. The cost of football is $675, and cheer $300, for a total of $925 for both children to participate.

Client is a single, 51 year old caregiver, who is raising three grandkids ages 9, 13, and 14. The children are in need of new shoes, as well as intimate clothing. With the caregivers fixed income, the caregiver finds it difficult to save enough money to buy the children these items. One of the kids has mentioned to their grandmother that kids at school had made comments about the holes in her shoes. When this request is met, the children’s basic needs will have been met, but more importantly they will have a pair of shoes they can feel more comfortable in. The caregiver would benefit from a Walmart gift card for $300.

Single mother with six children. There are two children who have been excessive wetting their beds. Mother is working with them to slow this; however, due to the excessiveness the beds have still been ruined. The current request is for two twin mattresses and two mattress covers to help assist with long term preservation of the beds. There is also a need for a car seat for the 2-year-old. They were working with the school during the school year and they partake in Big Brother’s Big Sister’s as well.
Mother died last year and then this year the uncle’s roof caved in due to the rain. The rooms had mold, and the home was in deplorable condition and all items had to be thrown away. The maternal uncle is legal guardian and he is doing the best he can with raising his niece and nephew (ages 11 & 12) but is struggling emotionally and financially. The children have behavior needs, emotional needs, and are grieving the loss of their mother. Maternal uncle is diabetic and recently had his toes amputated. Maternal Uncle was able to make some improvements to the home on his own, but needs beds and dressers for the children and is struggling financially. The request will help ensure the children’s needs are met and will prevent placement with unknown caregivers.
Support is being requested on behalf of the grandparents of a two-month-old infant, who are in need of a baby crib. These grandparents had been caring and planning to adopt their two granddaughters, when they were suddenly informed of the birth of their new grandson. These grandparents were not aware that their daughter was expecting and were shocked when they received the news from the hospital. In the middle of an emergency, the grandparents did not hesitate to take in their grandson at just one day old. These grandparents have committed to providing their grandchildren a safe and stable home, but in order for this to be possible, the child requires a crib. These grandparents have been looking for a second hand crib, but they have not been able to afford one. These grandparents have shared, that becoming the caregivers of their grandchildren, is not how they envisioned spending their golden years but that despite the challenges and sacrifice, they would not have it any other way. Support is being sought in order to purchase a crib in order for the infant to be allowed to stay in the home of his grandparents. Thank you so much!!!
The family has been homeless and living from one relative’s home to another for several months. The family had heavily relied on paternal aunt for housing and childcare which allowed both parents to work to be able to pay for food and gas. Recently, paternal aunt is no longer able to support the family due to the needs of her own children, and the family is in a state of crisis. They can stay with another paternal aunt at least for the rest of the month, however mom had to quit her job to be able to be with the children during the day. While the family does have food stamps, they have not been able to make it through the month without additional support. Parents have been taking the children to local kitchens for meals and pantries for food to bring home but are now struggling to pay for the gas needed to go to and from community resources. Dad is still working as much as possible, however they are struggling especially between paychecks.
Asking for any amount of gas gift cards.
A family, mom (21) and dad (21), and their three children (5,1,10 months) could greatly benefit from CarePortal's help. Dad works full time and mom is currently working on completing her high school diploma while caring for the children at home. This worker had a home visit last month and when asked where everyone sleeps in their new rental home, the mom disclosed their oldest child 5 (male) is sleeping on the couch and does not have his own bed in the home.
This family also recently lost access to transportation affecting Dad getting to work every day. Mom shared that while she was driving over a hill in their 2011 Buick she hit a brick and it tore a large hole in the transmission. Any help from a car repair shop or funds to go towards a transmission repair would be life-changing for this hard-working family.

A young couple is expecting their second child and needs a pack and play with a bassinet for the new baby. Dad is working on going back to school to better provide for his family, currently money is tight. The family is limited on space, therefore the pack and play option would best accommodate their living situation. They are excited to bring a new life into the world and enjoy all that parenthood has to offer. Meeting this request would help ease the financial burden the family is facing and ensure the new baby has a safe space to sleep and grow.

The mother of an infant needs a bus pass while she is in residential treatment facility.
She is in need of a bus pass in order to have transportation to and from mental health appointments and daily meetings.
Mom has worked extremely hard over the past year to battle multiple barriers including healthy relationships, substance abuse and stability. She has been working full time, but due to past debts and financial hardships, she is struggling to pay her rent and secure the necessary childcare assistance needed due to the early hours of her employment. We are asking for any help toward the remainder of her rent ($150) and the cost of the early morning childcare ($250) so we can better set her up for a successful reintegration of her 11 year old daughter this month.
Thank you!
A single mother with four boys is in need of beds for all boys. My organization is able to acquire two twin size beds with mattresses but she still needs a Pack and Play for her 4-month-old son and a crib for her two-year-old son. She is currently sleeping with both boys in her own small bed and is concerned for their safety. Helping this mother will alleviate a tremendous amount of stress for her and will help ease a financial burden from an already struggling family.

The Jackson County Children's Division: Investigations Office is in dire need of a refrigerator. Our team has recently greatly increased in size and our current refrigerator no longer supports the team as we've outgrown it. With this fridge, we would be able to nourish and keep the protectors of our county's children fed. With your help, we can keep this group of hardworking heroes moving sharply and making accurate judgements when considering the safety of our youth-- anything would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
