A biological mother is continuing to make efforts towards progressing to trial reunification with her 4 children; however, the mother is responsible for paying the out of pocket cost for the psychological evaluation that she was ordered by the court to complete, which is $700, before the court will consider increasing her weekly visitations with her children. In efforts to assist this mother with providing assistance with her upcoming electric and OG&E bill, would allow her to contribute the finances she would be using to pay the bills towards the amount needed for her psychological evaluation.

With the current state of the nation during this pandemic, schools have begun returning to a virtual learning platform. We have just over the past few months gotten these two boys (ages 5 and 6) established in a head start program and elementary school program, where they are thriving. With the switch to a virtual platform they are needing a chromebook or lap top to maintain there educational needs and goals. These boys both love to learn and I fear that not being able to participate in curriculum would be detrimental and set them back.

The family is in need of a twin mattress for their son's bed. He was using an air mattress on the bunk beds the family purchased; however, it is no longer usable. The parents are seeking a queen bed frame for their bed if possible. The Department has been working with the family for several months and they have made significant progress in how they manage their home and provide for their children. These items would help strengthen the bio home as it continues to ensure their basic needs are being met.

This family is working a prevention case with the Department. They have been very cooperative with the Department and worked hard through services to have their children (2 yo and 4 yo) back in their home to continue enhancing their protective capacities through services as a family. They have recently moved into a new home as the place they were previously renting was being sold. The new home does not have a refrigerator and they are having to put the milk and other necessities for the children in ice chests outside when it is cold enough out. The family is in need of a fridge whether it be used or new, they just want to provide necessary food for their children without having to replace spoiled items in the ice chests or continually buying ice. Their finances are tight at this time as they have just moved and had to place new deposits on everything.

When children arrive in our emergency shelter after being removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect, they have typically experienced a significant amount of uncertainty. When will I eat, if at all? What is my bedtime? Will I have clean clothing to wear to school? Because of this uncertainty, one of the first things we provide for them when they arrive is structure. The weekly menu is listed as well as the times that they will eat. Their bedtime is set. They have chores and receive an allowance. If they do their homework or meet other specified goals, they receive time to play on a tablet device. Right now the devices that we utilize as this reward are on their last leg. We are hoping that someone will help us replace these items so we can continue to provide this reward.

I have a family who is need of rental assistance as the biological father recently had surgery due to gangrene infection on his foot. It has been reported there are more concerns with his foot as they found no medical concerns. Biological mother is unable to pay for all the bills in their home. Their one year old child who is in OKDHS custody is in the process of returning home to her parents in a couple of months. I am requesting help for this family with rent assistance. Anything counts.

I am currently working with a family preventively. The family would greatly benefit from having a dresser that they could place their children's items in. The family is open to a gently used or new dresser, anything would help. Thank you for your continued support!

The family needing assistance has two children in the home, one in custody and one not. The family has just begun the trial reunification process due to parent working diligently with OKDHS in meeting all their goals. There are two adults in the home. The family's refrigerator recently went out and they are having to keep their regular refrigerated things in the freezer just to keep them cool so they don't spoil. The family would benefit from a new or gently used refrigerator at this time. The family is renting their home but the refrigerator that failed was their personal unit and the landlord is not providing a new one.

A local foster family has worked diligently to support the children in their care. With the extra responsibilities that come with fostering (visitation, sports, etc.) the foster parents can have difficulty choosing between providing a healthy home cooked meal or assisting their foster children with homework or other emotional challenges that the child may be having in the evening. Providing one meal every 1-4 weeks would go a long way to help the foster parent to be able to have margin to connect with the foster child in a meaningful way on the family’s busiest days when the stress and triggers are at the highest. Foster parent has provided a list of all food allergies as well as the family’s preferences of food (likes and dislikes). Representatives from Circle of Care (foster care agency) will provide contact info and help to make initial connection with the family. Two Hours: Providing a meal helps to provide two critical hours to the foster parent on their most stressful day where they know their foster children are more prone to have emotional, relational or scholastic difficulty. That’s two hours - that the parent doesn’t have to worry about meal plans, if they have the right ingredients, how they are going to pull off a stop to the grocery store before cooking while driving to soccer practice. Two hours that the foster parent is able to show the child they are loved and cared for even when life is hectic – something that the child may not be used to. Two hours that shows the foster parent: You are not in this alone. We are joining with you. Circle of Care (CoC) is a faith based statewide foster care agency and currently has 1 foster family in such need in your area. CoC can set your group on a rotation with other groups or your group can set up its own rotation to help the family. Please respond to let us know you are interested in helping and we can connect you with the family that matches the availability that you or your group may provide.
