A 18 year old non-minor court dependent is currently working and attending school at Mt. Sac with the goal of transferring to a four-year college in two years. The youth is goal oriented and motivated. The youth is currently in a transitional housing (THP) program placement and doing well. The youth lacks family support to meet his goals and relies on DCFS and his THP program for support. Youth's current bicycle has broken down several times and is now not operable. Youth is in need of an electrical bicycle to help him get to work and school, specifically during after bus hours. Youth would greatly appreciate if a donation can be made to help purchase the electronic bicycle found on Amazon to help support the transportation need.

We have a 17 year old youth who was recently placed with grandmother due to not wanting to stay with her mother after realizing mother was causing the youth to have some mental health challenges. The youth is in the home with her grandmother but due to limited space they have to share a room and the youth is in need of a bed to sleep in. Grandmother has a fixed income and does not qualify for DCFS funding so finances are limited to be able to purchase large items such as a bed. Any assistance would be appreciated to support this youth in staying in relative care.
16 yr old new mother who recently received approval for a kinship foster placement and is looking forward to gaining stability for herself and 6month old baby. Youth has identified listening to music as a healthy coping skill to help self-soothe. She needs the tools to support using coping skills in new placement. This is a speaker that is durable and desired by youth Additionally, for her new baby, the youth would benefit from a bouncer. The link is found here Items would support a smooth transition for youth and baby as they stabilize in their new placement.

My client recently moved into her apartment and starting off her life as an adult. With this comes lots responsibility and the need for basic essentials. This young lady needs help with accessing key items that will help her thrive in her new apartment as a young adult. Since this youth is busy with attending school and working part- time obtaining the items of the list might take sometime to obtain on her own which is why I am reaching our for help and support. If these items are not obtained the youth will struggle with obtaining them on her own which will take away from her obtaing other key items she needs at this time.

Support is being requested on behalf of a single mother with two teenage daughters and a toddler age boy. The mother has come a long way she has turned her from a life of crime to being an advocate for teenagers engaging in criminal activity. The family came to the attention of DCFS due to domestic violence, mother was the victim. As a result, the father left the home in order for the children to be able to remain home of mother. The mother overnight was held responsible for all the home expenses. This caused her to fall behind on rent payments. She currently owes three months of rent.During this time, mother has also been juggling school to further her education, working, and participating in Court ordered services. Based on this CSW’s observations and interactions with mother, she is resilient, driven, and hardworking. Mother is just making ends meet and even with a payment plan, she does not make enough money to pay the landlord. The landlord has threaten to evict the family is she does not pay as soon as possible. Mother recently qualified for a section 8 voucher. However, in order to move forward she needs to provide a letter of good standing from her current landlord. DCFS will continue to link the family to community agencies that can help with rental assistance. The following items are being requested to relieve some expenses and mother can save the money to pay her back pay in rent: groceries, gas, and clothes. Thank you!!

Support is being requested on behalf of a mother and her two children (8 and 14) by her social worker. Mother suffers from chronic diabetic, was in a diabetic coma a few weeks ago and was released home. Unfortunately mother was hospitalized again for her chronic illness. Mother is struggling to provide for her children, due to her condition, recent hospitalizations and being unable to return to work. Mother is a single parent and the sole provider for the family. Mother would be grateful is she could receive assistance with groceries, transportation funds and warm clothes for the children. Any assistance provided for this family would be greatly appreciated and it would help reinforce that there are others in the community that are there to support them. We have a bed frame and might have access to a mattress and box spring, but are working on figuring out transport to get it to the caregiver.

I think we have been able to secure a mattress, box spring and frame, but need help getting it to the caregiver. Is there anyone who can help with that? It is a full size mattress and box spring. I think pickup and drop off locations are both in Pasadena.
