Help Preserve a Foster Care or Kinship Placement

High Urgency Request
The following family is 2 adults and 4 children. The grandmother is the foster grandparent for the following four children. The children's ages are 14yr, 12yr, 5yr, 2yr. The children were placed with grandmother due to an open DCFS case. Grandmother is awaiting for the home approval to pass so that the foster kinship income can come in on a monthly basis. Caregiver will be able to sustain the children with their immediate needs. The family is currently struggling with the basic needs such as food, clothing, diapers and baby wipes. The caregiver has concerns since the children do not have weather appropriate clothing such as winter coats or being able to provide the immediate needs. The family would be able to benefit generous help during these hard times.

This referral for assistance is for a maternal grandparent that is currently the foster grandparent caring for an 11 month old. The child is currently receiving several medical testings and treatments. The baby is currently involved with North Los Angeles Regional services, mental health therapy and occupational therapy. The caregiver is in need of the following assistance with food gift card for $50, toddler convertible seat, formula, box of diapers size 5, box of baby wipes, and baby clothes size 18-24 months which a gift card for $50 would be helpful. The caregiver (maternal grandmother) is in need of the assistance since she is unable to work due to the many services and medical appointments that the baby has. The family would benefit from the generous help from the local community.

These caregivers are grandmother and maternal aunt to a 13 year old female and 4 year old female. The girls recently came to the caregivers home due to unfortunate circumstances with their family of origin. They came with only few clothes and will soon need winter clothes, underwear as well as socks and shoes. The home is still in the process of being RFA approved so the caregivers don't receive Foster Care Funding yet. They are doing their best to provide a loving and caring home to the girls and thrive to meet their basic needs but due to their already limited income, they cannot purchase them clothes and shoes at this time. They would benefit greatly from receiving Target gift cards so they can buy the girls what they need for the upcoming winter.

Help Support a Youth Aging Out
1
High Urgency Request
At 9 months, this youth entered the foster care system and didn't leave until he was 21. He spent all his life in group homes and shelters, where he built a tough exterior as a means of survival. However, what he had to do to survive never outshined his heart for service and art. As a young man, he has spoken in front of the LA County Board of Supervisors in support of increasing funding for Transition Aged Youth (TAY) Homelessness and continues to make beautiful music about the hardships of being a young person in the system. He is a fierce advocate for the betterment of foster youth's lives, but right now he needs someone to advocate for him. Due to COVID and the halting of his SILP payments, he has not been able to pay his rent for the last few months and is on the brink of homelessness if he does not come up with rent in the next 18 days. Receiving any type of financial support will lift the heavy weight and burden off his shoulder's as he gets through the holidays and into next year. He can make a smooth transition into January where a wonderful job opportunity is waiting for him and the only thing he'll have to worry about is what he'll wear for his first day at work. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you!

This is a couple who are nonrelative caregivers of a seventeen year old male. They have known him as their neighbor and friend most of his life and consider him and love him as a grandson. Unfortunately, he recently came to their home due to difficult circumstances basically with what he was wearing. As much as they would like to buy him everything he needs, it breaks their hearts not to be able to do that at this time, as their income is very limited. Their home is in the process of completing the RFA so they have not received Foster Care yet. It worries them that winter is around the corner, which means he'll soon need warmer clothes and shoes. Any gift cards or assistance these caregivers could get in order to provide much needed underwear, socks, shoes and warm clothes for this young man, will be greatly appreciated.

Our program family consists of six family members. Mother would like to buy a stroller for her two-year-old daughter but unfortunately she can’t afford it at this time. Mother stays home to care for the children and father works to provide for the family. Father’s hours were reduced due to the current pandemic and the family is having difficulty making ends meet. Mother has a health condition and was ordered to exercise to help improve her health but since she has her child and no one to support with child care she can’t go out for walks with the child, as the child is very active and often wants to run from mother and mother has difficulty keeping up with her. Fulfilling this need will help improve mother’s well-being. Stroller -- https://www.walmart.com/ip/Kolcraft-Cloud-Sport-Lightweight-Stroller-Travel-Friendly-One-Hand-Fold-Compact/773762925
