Family consists of single mother and her son, age 17. Mother needs a queen sized bed/mattress (for the youth), Dining room set-table and 4 chairs. Mother is employed, but on a single income is only able to meet basic needs, and has been unable to purchase these items. Despite mother facing challenges in furnishing the family’s home, she is meeting the case plan goals and court orders, in that she was able to reunify with her son and establish a stable, safe home for him. During my work with the family, I have observed the mother’s motivation to provide stability for her son, her strong desire to provide the best for her family and advocate for her family’s needs. Mother’s goals are to have an appropriate and comfortable space where she and her son can share meals, complete homework assignments, have family time by engaging and rebuilding their relationship as well as ensuring that her son has an adequate place to sleep and rest. For these reasons, I am advocating that the family have the identified needs met. The primary reason for my request is to ensure the child has a safe, stable and appropriate home environment, improve parental capacity, foster emotional, physical, behavioral and educational well-being. Mother has demonstrated resiliency, perseverance and has been diligent in reunifying with her son and to ensure he remains in her care. DCFS has provided other resources to assist the family, but is not able to provide these items at this time.
Mom is a young single parent to an 11 month old baby girl. There is no involvement or support from the baby's father. Mom lives on her own with her baby and non-relatives in a 1 bedroom apartment. She is in need of a window a/c unit to help cope with the very hot days we have been experiencing. She is unable to make this purchase as she does not make enough being a single parent to afford such an expense. Mom works cleaning homes and pays for childcare and the $800 monthly rent on her own.

Young mom is a single parent of an almost 1 year old baby boy. Mom lives with her grandparents and other non-relatives. Mom and her son sleep in the living room but the air conditioning unit has stopped working, making sleep extremely uncomfortable in the increasingly hot weather. Mom is not working but attends high school while her grandmother takes care of her baby boy. Her grandparents do not have the means to make this purchase as the only income is from the grandfather and they do not have any extra income after paying bills and necessities.

hello, do you happen to know if they have windows that open going up and down or if they have the ones that move from side to side?
I have a Midea AC unit that was only used for a 2-3 months until our AC unit was fixed. It worked great but we no longer have any use for them.
please let me know if this might work for them.
My client is a survivor of human trafficking. She is now a non-minor dependent and has been living independently. She's shown miraculous perseverance and has been living through SILP in her own apartment, found work at a fast food restaurant, and is attending school to finish college. She aspires to be a nurse. Her Cal Fresh has been stopped for some reason and it's taking a lot of time to figure that out. In the meantime, she is literally going hungry and is unable to provide food for herself. She usually receives $250 a month from CalFresh. My office has provided her groceries before. She just needs food. All of her personal funds have been going into other needs for school [books cost all of her money] and her rent/living needs.

The family was moved out of their city due to safety reasons and they are currently living in different hotels on a weekly basis since finding them permanent housing. The family has an adult daughter with down syndrome that requires full care. The family will benefit from food cards, and Uber or Lyft gift cards to get to their appointments to purchase toiletries and necessary needs to live during this unexpected crisis. A family of 4 is in need of financial assistance for next month's rent. The newest member of the family, a one month old baby boy, just joined them in July. The new bundle of joy is naturally, both parents' priority and as a result all their money has gone to keeping their baby healthy and safe. Both mom and dad are on family leave until the end of August. Mom recently received a letter in the mail stating that she would no longer receive funds for paid family leave or disability. This has been a major setback for the family, as they now only have one form of income. Dad has only received 2 weeks of payment and is still waiting for the rest of his leave. The family tried to find help elsewhere, but the resource they found only assisted families who were affected by COVID. Any and all help this family could receive, would be greatly appreciated. Mom has signed the necessary consent forms to be contacted in regards to this request. Thank you !
