We have a student who needs to be sponsored for our "Angel" Tree here at school. We are having difficulty getting sponsors for the 70+ children on our list. I am hoping that by reaching out through the CarePortal we can get this one student sponsored. He has only asked for one thing for Christmas and this item is costly. It is called an occulusquest2 system. It is a virtual reality gaming system that does not use a phone as this student does not have a phone. This student has had a hard school year emotionally due to family dynamics and family financial difficulties and often feels as though he is worthless because he can't help make things better. This student carries the weight of the world on his shoulders and is often very sad. He is a sweet caring child with a big heart. This student's single mother works hard and tries her best to provide for her children; though "needs" come before wants (such as this gaming system) . There are also other siblings in the household who we are reaching out to other organizations/folks to help sponsor. However, it's hard to get sponsors to "sponsor" entire families. I know that this mother would be extremely thankful and appreciative for any assistance with providing her child with the only wish he has for Christmas. This is an item that is not within her Christmas budget. Thank you for considering this request.

I am currently working with a family who has 3 children within the home. They have applied for fuel assistance however the determination will not be made until December 2022 and they are in need of kerosene for their kerosene heater until the fuel assistance will step in. The family has a 275 gallon keresone tank however they only need a small amount to hold them over until the fuel assistance determination. No one is working in the home at this time so there is not any income coming in. The request is for 50 gallons of kerosene to be delivered to their home to assist with heating needs until the fuel assistance program will be able to fill their keresone tanks. Any help would be appreciated.

We have a family in need of a full size bed and a couch for their living area. The student has outgrown his smaller twin bed and is in need of a new one that is a little larger. They would need the frame along with a mattress. When I was speaking with the mother, she mentioned that their living room couch is very worn down and has stuffing coming out of it. The mother was mostly concerned about getting a new bed for her son but is very appreciative if both requests were filled.

A family of 3 is in need of help with their water bill. The mother has had to sell her vehicle in order to pay off an electric bill. Not having a vehicle is a huge barrier in paying the water bill as she does not have transportation for work. The water bill got very high as she tried her best to manage it as well as the electric bill. Both children attend school and need running water and electricity for basic life needs. This family would be very thankful for any help with the water bill as well as any other assistance given (such as a used vehicle in order for the parent to gain employment). This family will also be placed on the school angel tree.
*Please note, the water bill being paid is priority while a used vehicle is secondary. Updated on November 01, 2022 by an Agency Worker The request for money for a used vehicle is no longer needed. We learned this after submitting this application. However, we also learned through a 2nd party also working with the family that the mother has applied for a grant to assist with the very large water bill. Though she has applied, she may not get funding for the entire bill. Therefore, we are requesting that the 1200 asked for the used vehicle be applied towards the water bill also. This would be a total of $1800 towards a $3100 outstanding water bill. The cost of the water bill has also been confirmed with the water company. Thank you for any and all assistance with this bill and helping this family get out from this financial burden.
