Story
Guatemalan mother does not have a work permit and has been without work for several months resulting in the family becoming homeless. The children have come into foster care as a result of the homelessness. The mother is scheduled to start a job in construction next month but will have to travel back and forth to Nashville, TN from Lewisburg, TN. She will be relying on a family friend for transportation. FSW is requesting assistance via gas cards ($150 for January 2024) to help relieve the financial burden of the family friend that is providing transportation for this mother until the mother starts getting her own income and able to get back on her feet. The mom also really needs a solid outdoor work jacket for the winter months (e.g. Carhart). She prefers size men's medium.
The foster parent for the children is English speaking but has openly accepted the placement of the Spanish speaking children and has been trying to learn Spanish to better communicate with the children currently in her home and ones she may have in the future. The foster parent for the children has expressed a need for two sets of bunk beds. One set will be in the girls room of the home and the other will go into the boys room. The foster mother has three children total in her home and is eager to accept more foster parents but lacks the bedding. FSW is requesting two sets of twin over twin bunk beds, 4 twin mattresses, and gender neutral bedding.
Prayers are needed for this Guatemalan family. The family and foster family have build great relationships to will last past reunification in the future!
