Story
A single mom is struggling to maintain her children, ages 16 and 12, in her care. She is experiencing major hardship as the result of a domestic violent relationship with the father, and a contentious custody battle. The kids do not want to spend time with the father, so they are in the physical custody of the mother. Although the father is receiving cash and Cal Fresh benefits for the kids, he will not assist the mother financially. The mother has been working with the County trying to prove she has the children in her care; however, bureaucracy, lack of responsiveness and a language barrier are hindering any progress. We are working to resolve this issue, but in the meantime, the immediate need is for groceries and a gas card. The mother works, and is doing all that she can to make ends meets. She is grateful for any assistance.
