After 25 years of faithfully serving students and teachers in Orange County, one of our longtime Saddleback Church members is now facing the heartbreaking reality of potential homelessness. She is a compassionate, devoted college professor and mentor with a clear anointing on her life. Due to a sharp decline in student teacher enrollment, her income has been drastically reduced. Yesterday, she received a 3-day pay-or-quit notice and urgently needs $900 in rental assistance to avoid becoming homeless by this Friday. Next month she will begin receiving income from new jobs and expects to cover her rent going forward. However, she needs support to make it through May. She is single woman who lost her only child years ago; she has no family to turn to only her church family. With a Doctorate and Master’s in Education and a BS in Mathematics, she has dedicated her life to mentoring future teachers and guiding students in challenging STEM subjects. Her mission has always been to help students discover their God-given talents and pursue meaningful careers. Since 2012, she has also served faithfully in several Saddleback ministries. As National Teacher Appreciation Week comes to a close, let’s show support and gratitude to this sister in Christ who has poured so much into others. A couple made up of wife and wife raising 2 girls age 12 and 1 boy age 10 who can to them from DCFS due to neglect they are such amazing mothers who work hard to care for these three children, they are thriving with mental health service in place and the love and patience both of them provide. There is Stove just started to leak gas and need one ASAP and their dishwasher was leaking and couldn't get fixed they took it out to air out water leek and haven't had money to replace it, they are hoping we can help replace these two items. This family are afrade that DCFS will pull the kids out because they don't have the Basics appliances required by RFA

This request is for a minor and her eight-month-old baby boy. This minor is funny, witty, smart, social, and insightful. She is a leader and makes friends easily. She is growing, working through overcoming trauma she has experienced and preparing to transition into young adulthood. As a young parent, she is open to learning new skills and asks questions to support her baby’s development. She loves her baby boy who is a happy, active, and smiley baby! Having experienced foster care herself, she was devastated when her baby was temporarily removed from her care and is striving to prioritize making decisions for her and her baby’s safety. These items will support her in meeting her baby’s basic needs, increasing safety of the home, bonding with her baby and supporting her baby’s development. She is also expecting a second child and can benefit from a maternity body pillow so that she can get appropriate rest as well as items to support her to be more comfortable in her pregnancy. This minor has been impacted by the juvenile justice system and is working to remove barriers to gain employment. A gift card to Sephora would help her obtain makeup that will allow her to cover up facial tattoos and support her to walk into an interview or space feeling confident. Seeking assistance to support a trial home placement of a 5 yo non-verbal autistic child. Services are limited in the area for the child & his developmental needs (non-verbal autistic) has added an extra layer of stress to the family. For the last 8 months, the parents have been traveling for services & visitation each week. The mother is stay-at-home as the child cannot be placed in daycare. She is wanting to get out in the community with the child; however, the financial strain they endured over months has made it difficult. We are seeking a variety of items to support the family. Once custody of the child returns to the parents, they will be able to access additional support like SNAP; however, they cannot do so while the child is on a trial home placement. Items needed include: baby wipes (child is not toilet trained), cleaning supplies (disinfectant, paper towels, Swiffer wet clothes, trash bags, dish detergent), toilet paper, paper plates, gas cards, sponsorship for pool pass for 2 (child and mother), and a kid's sensory body sock (he wears a child's size 10). Regarding cleaning supplies, the child often throws items around, pours things on the floor, etc., creating a significant amount of cleaning for the family. They could also use laundromat funds as their apartment does not have laundry facilities, including laundry detergent.

This is an emergency situation involving two minors who were detained and placed with their paternal aunt. A previous request was made for bunk beds and two dressers. While one dresser has been received, an additional dresser is still needed to ensure both children have adequate storage space.

The paternal aunt continues to need support in providing a stable home environment.

I am requesting assistance with providing viewing and cremation services for a mother who was killed in a car accident last week. The child “M” is 16; his older sister “R” (19 & in extended foster care) was found to be the next-of-kin for the mother and had to take a leave of absence from college to manage the mother’s affairs. The children are overwhelmed with the news of this event and are at a loss for how to move forward. It would be helpful for the children to be able to prepare a viewing and cremation that honors their mother in a way that will allow them to begin healthy grieving. The youth, “R” has obtained quotes for services and was able to find a mortuary that is charging them $3000. The family has been able to make some of the payment but they are in need of $1500 to finish paying of the mortuary.

A church member has a college student, at New River Community College, in a class that is currently homeless along with his father. His father broke both his arms in a work accident due to faulty equipment. Since he is unable to work and the company has put a hold on workers compensation until July they are in need of assistance. The father is unable to work at least until he has surgery on both arms. Their current needs are food and gas for him to get back and forth to work and school. The school has been working with a mom who was reunified with her children about a year ago. As a single parent she has needed extra support in keeping up with all of her kiddos and their needs. They've recently been accepted to move into a more affordable home at the beginning of June but they had to move out of their current place earlier than that. They are in need of a hotel room to hold them over until their rental is ready for move in. (The landlords are actually from MP!) The hotel is $84/night and we are hoping to cover 5 nights. There are several other churches claiming other nights as well!

We have a beautiful new family that arrived last week from Afghanistan. They came with nothing and currently the government funding is not available. we have helped the family secure housing and most of the furniture needed. they hopefully will move into the apartment in the next few days.

I am advocating for a mom of 2 who has had a stroke paralyzing her left side. While ordering a wheelchair for her, we discovered she is sleeping on a mattress on the floor. This mom has had three back surgeries and needs her bed high enough to be comfortably transferred in and out of bed and to be able to rest well. She is very humble and grateful for any help she may receive.
