Emergency Youth Shelter is requesting items for youth to do individually in their quiet time in bedrooms prior to going to sleep. No electronics are allowed and youth need activities they enjoy to unwind before sleeping. Typically 6-7 youth are at the shelter each night. Youth ages are from 12-17. Youth come and go frequently. Items will go with the youth when they leave the shelter. Most youth come to the shelter with few if any personal possessions. Items need to be something youth could not use for self harm. Suggested items would include: medium logo sets, magnetic building sets, model automobiles/planes that do not use glue, dot art work, crafts without sharp objects or long string, foil art, journal kits for teens, origami kits, diamond art kits, paper airplane kits, stem kits, 3 D puzzles, stem magnetic fidget cube, cars and toys that can be played with individually and quietly. Many of these youth have not had the opportunity to have or play with toys. To be able to provide toys and activities to do by themselves is amazing to most of our youth. Many have not had this opportunity and have not learned to play or to play alone. Thank you for your consideration and the blessing that will be received.

I have been working with Mom for almost 2 years. She had a very serious problem with addition until October 2023, when she gave birth to a baby girl. She has been clean and sober since then, now has full custody of her daughter, is employed with stable housing and is doing great. Mom has older kids, 15-year-old twin boys and a 17-year-old. The older kids have been in foster care; since Mom has turned her life around, she has reestablished relationships with them. They are visiting, and the family may be soon reunited. They are in a very small space right now, but Mom is hoping to be approved for a larger home soon. Mom is humble and reluctant to ask, but she needs 4 sets of twin sheets and comforters, pillows, towels, deodorants, soaps, toothpaste, shampoo, and toiletries for the older kids, toilet paper, size 4 diapers, baby shampoo and lotions, plastic hangers and plastic bins for storage.
Mom is open to a gift certificate or to someone who can assist her with planning and shopping. Thank you in advance.

A member of our church reached out to us as she is trying to help a single momma rebuild after abuse, marital separation, homelessness, and recently welcoming twin babies into the world. They were recently blessed with a safe place to stay, and someone has fronted three months rent on a place of their own, which they will be moving into next month. They have a long list of needs as when the twins entered the world two weeks ago she only had a onesie each. We understand we may not be able to fulfill every need but anything and everything collected is greatly appreciated.

Student is an unaccompanied youth, very resilient facing challenges of homelessness. She is living in a car and trying to find a job to earn some money to pay her phone plan and keep gas in the car. As her homeless liaison, it is important to keep her phone active to stay in communication with her especially over the summertime, so requesting help with her phone services. Initially her phone was cut off due to insufficient funds. She just signed up a free 15 day trial program with the company Visible.

Hello. Lighthouse Church has been assisting a family of 5 who was homeless after losing their housing which was already temporary. The family member that was hosting them was unable to continue providing them space in her home. Lighthouse has covered the cost for the family to stay in a hotel this week and helped to secure stable housing. The family was approved for an apartment! The family is from Honduras, mom, dad, and three kids ages 17, 12, and 9. Their 17 year old daughter needs a kidney transplant, please pray for her. The apartment is on the west side of Madison. Hey BattleCreek church family! We have been connected to a recent kinship placement. The maternal aunt has stepped in as an out-of-home safety monitor for her teenage nephew, providing him with a safe and stable environment while the family works through ongoing challenges. Unfortunately, the aunt’s food stamp benefits were recently hacked, leaving her without critical resources to feed her household. She is doing her best to provide for the teen and maintain stability, but with limited income and no access to her food benefits for the rest of the month, she is struggling to meet their basic needs. We are asking for support in providing assistance for their utility bill this month. Even the smallest amount helps!
