Story
Families Together is supporting a single mom with two children. The family moved to Lincoln approximately 6 months ago from another state escaping domestic violence. Since moving to Lincoln, mom has not been able to find a job in her field due to entry level positions being primarily evening or overnight shifts and she has no one to care for her children during that time. There have also been delays in getting Food stamp, Medicaid, and Title XX set up. Mom recently required hospitalization for a mental health situation. Because of this combination Mom has gotten behind on her bills.
Since Families Together has connected with her, mom has applied for and begun receiving Medicaid. Mom has applied for several higher paying jobs in her field that could work with her day-care schedule and has some interviews scheduled, and she has overcome some of the barriers to receiving Food Stamps and Title XX and should begin receiving those benefits soon. Mom is doing some great work.
The family is currently behind on rent. Her monthly rent is $825, and she currently owes $1125. She would appreciate any amount that could help her get caught up.
