This family has been experiencing homelessness for a number of years. Mom was finally able to access housing and moved herself and her three children into a safe home. However this home is not furnished, and the children have been sleeping on the floor. The only piece of furniture they have are folding chairs in the living room. These funds will support this family in accessing the Chicago Furniture Bank where they will be able to get beds, couches, dressers, a dining room table and more. This support will immensely improve the quality of life of these children and their mom. Thank you so much for your generous consideration and support. 

Mother is working with an agency and recently got confirmation that she can begin a job at the Landfill once she has proper attire (steel toe boots). She has previously been a stay at home mother and began working with the agency to leave the domestic violence situation that she is in. Her employment will be the first step toward leaving the home. The agency is willing to place her in housing once she has employment secured. They provided her with vouchers to local second hand stores, but none have what she needs in stock. Mother is active in drug treatment and visits with the children regularly. Mother would benefit greatly from a size 8.5 women's steel toe boots.

Child is 17 and is currently living with a family friend. Child's mother has unstable housing and child can no longer live with her. Father states he cannot care for child because child does have behavioral issues. A family friend is willing to have child remain with her hopefully for the next year. Child does not have a bed and is staying on the family couch at this time. Child stated he is excited to have a bedroom of his own since he has been living couch to couch for a year or so.
The bedroom can fit a twin or full size bed. Either size is being requested. A bedroom dresser is also being requested for his clothes.

Grandma has had custody of her three grandchildren ranging in ages 2-6 for approximately a year now. Since this time Grandma has enrolled all children in educational programs/school and the children are thriving. Grandma has adjusted her work schedule as well to be able to provide for her grandchildren. Prior to this time the children were not living with Grandma. Grandma had her own apartment that suited her needs in regards to bedrooms, etc but she made the space work for her grandchildren. Grandma just got upgraded to a larger apartment that will be suited for her three grandchildren. She is so excited that they will have bedrooms and a safe place to play outside. As excited as she is, Grandma realizes that she is in need of furniture she does not currently have as she did not have the space. Grandma is in need of one dresser and one couch for the family. Grandma would also like an area rug as the children love to have playtime/floor time.

A family of five is facing some difficulties in fixing students glasses. The father is the sole breadwinner, while one of the children has an intellectual delay. Last week, the parents purchased a pair of glasses for this child, addressing a long-standing need, but incurred nearly $400 in out-of-pocket expenses despite having insurance. Unfortunately, just this week, another student broke the child's glasses. Given the previous financial strain, the parents currently lack the funds to cover the $125 cost to repair the lenses, as confirmed by the optometrist clinic. Any assistance provided to this family would be greatly appreciated, as the student relies on his glasses for success in school.

Recently, this mother made the courageous decision to leave a long-term, mentally abusive marriage to seek a better environment and home for her 11-year-old son and herself. She has also started taking college classes to get her degree to provide future support. She is participating in Pathway's DivorceCare where she is building supportive relationships as she starts this new journey with her son. She is moving into her own apartment and is needing some essential items. Their favorite color is any color of blue. Her son is also a fan of the Kansas City Chiefs. Her bedroom set is the queen size and his is the full size.

A family in our church had a five year old girl placed with them yesterday. She arrived with very little and needs basic items. She will be moving schools and the family has asked that she have some new items to ease this transition, along with every day items.

Our foster family of 7 with a baby on the way is in need of a meal train the week their baby is born (due date is May 3rd). We're hoping to have 5+ people sign up to each bring a large meal (10 servings) the week the baby is born. This will make a tremendous difference for this family as they transition into life with a newborn.

A father has recently gotten housing and needs items for him and his son to be comfortable in their home. A few items are listed but the apartment needs all the basics for living. Financial assistance is also welcome to help purchase needed items.

A couple in our church community are expecting their first baby in a few weeks. The mom-to-be would greatly appreciate if someone could come to their home and put together a dresser while her husband is away at basic training. They are located in Cary.
