Story
This is a request for assistance with clothing and toiletry items for a 13-year-old boy in DHS custody. He was placed into a foster home with his sibling a few days ago after disrupting placement from a shelter and going awol. He has been in DHS custody for 6 months and is 1 of 4 siblings who is struggling the most behaviorally and emotionally. Foster mom for one of the siblings graciously accepted placement of him and she is working to help stabilize him so that he can have a chance to live in a home setting (vs bouncing from shelter to shelter). CASA has observed he is in need of clothing. Shoes men size 8, shirts 16-18 or men xs / joggers/ pants 14-16. He could also use some extra toiletry items such as deodorant, shampoo. We are requesting new or gently used clothing items, or a visa gift. In the event a gift card is donated, CASA will ensure kiddo has the opportunity to pick out his own things. Please pray for this young man as he has experienced significant trauma, was removed from a home with parents who struggle with substance use and mental health. Reunification appears to be poor prognosis currently. If we can help alleviate some of the financial burden from foster mom who has agreed to accept a sibling and help replenish this young man's wardrobe, we believe the family overall wellbeing will greatly improve, and it will lift his spirits and his self-worth. Praying for this young man.
