Grandma was recently laid off and is actively searching for a new job, but opportunities have been hard to come by. Dad just started a new job this week after switching careers, and things are still very uncertain. Mom is expecting and is due at any moment, which adds even more stress to an already overwhelming time. While they’ve managed to set aside some savings, it’s not enough—they’re still struggling to cover the remainder of their utility bill and could really use a bit of help right now.

A 17 year old child was removed and placed at her friend's house, starting today. The child currently does not have her own bed. In order for her to have her own bed, a twin over full bunk bed is needed. The bunk bed is necessary due to preserving space in the home. The family already has a full bed, for one of the children that already live in the home, which is why a twin over full bed frame would be the best option for this kinship placement. A frame, a twin mattress, sheets, comforter set, mattress protector, and pillows are needed for the 17 year old girl. The family could also use a carbon monoxide detector for the home. Providing these items will help make this kinship placement work for this child. Thank you!

There is a single foster mom who has had placement of a 14 year old hispanic child for almost 1 year now. She has her 15th birthday coming up, and foster mom is wanting to throw her a Quinceañera! She is working alongside other community partners, but wants to get her foster daughter the dress of her dreams and for her to get to have everything she wants at this party. A kinship caregiver has experienced some hardships in the month of March, which has led to difficulty coming up with her April rent. She works as a nurse’s aide and is paid when she takes shifts. Unfortunately, in early March she became ill and found out that she had contracted COVID. As a result, she missed two weeks of work. At the end of March, her car was totaled in a hit and run and she has not had reliable transportation. As she plans her next steps in regards to a car, she has been relying on an Uber to get to and from work. This additional expense is providing an additional strain on her already reduced income. Fortunately, CareSource has been set up to get her to the therapy and medical appointments for her granddaughter and grandson. Her April rent is $841 and she could really use support after such a challenging month. Any amount towards this balance would be helpful. Thank you for all you do for kinship families!

The child is reunifying with biological mother who already has three of her other children in the home. The family is in need of a bunk bed and mattresses so that there is space in the room for the children to sleep as the child is sharing a room with his three siblings. None of the other agencies contacted have bunk beds available. Overnight visits are expected to start in the upcoming weeks. Thank you!

We recently had a young lady came back into care here in St. John's County. She is starting school tomorrow and is in need of some new school clothes and other supplies. She will be a high schooler. She is a size XL in most clothing, 16 in pants, and 8.5 in shoes. She is very happy to be back placed in St. John's County and is also excited to start school. This young lady has moved a couple of times to no fault of her own and has often had to leave behind some items. She has had a very intense and traumatic upbringing. I think she would love an opportunity to pick her clothing out as well so any potential closets that could see if they have items in her size would be such a help. Or if any responders think of options for gift cards for places like Old Navy or anything of that sort that would be amazing. Thank you!

We have a elderly member that has moved to Tulsa from another state. She was living with family that is also elderly and disabled. She has moved into an apartment with no furniture or supplies. We are working to assist her with getting a bed/bedding, sofa/chair, table & chairs, dishes. She is in need of items for the bathroom (towels, shower curtain, soaps). The apartment is totally unfurnished and any assistance you can provide will be a blessing to this senior member. Thank you for your assistance.

This need is for a family who has graduated from DHS. We have assisted this family about a year ago. The mother’s snap benefits were stolen and used in Pennsylvania. While she is waiting for assistance, she could use our help feeding her family (mom, dad, adult son, and baby who is 14 months old). Baby is eating finger foods and family can use items like canned goods, meat, etc.

A local mother passed away recently, and friends have taken in 4 of the seven children in the family. They are aged 6 months to 10 years old. There are many needs! The Biological dad is working to be able to have his children back in the home. In the meantime, the families are really struggling.
The young baby needs Formula—Similac Sensitive. The family has not yet been approved for any help for the children. This family already has several kids of its own and needs assistance with diapers. The older kids need clothing and a few other things. One of the older girls needs clothing in size 7/8 and size 13 kids' shoes. They also need size 5/6 pajamas and twin bed sheets.
