Story
I am pleased to connect you with a mother and 2 children. Just this year, the family was on the Shelter waiting list, sold a car to buy a camper to live in, and then has been paying to stay at the Drake Motel. The mother left a domestic violence situation in Huber Heights. She came to Springfield to seek safety and new opportunities for her and the children. When she arrived in Springfield, we paid for her and the children to stay at a hotel. This mother has gained steady employment, and she is getting everything back on track after a connection with Service Coordination. Her car broke down not too long ago and she was not able to work for a little while, but she is back on track now with a "new to her" car.
I believe above all the connections to services has helped this mother get back on her feet. The mother has had to jump through many hoops due to her past criminal activity and working through recovery. But she has now found housing, and has already moved in. In order to not stress her financial situation, she has reluctantly asked for help in getting items for her new home.
I am hopeful that keeping this housing and having stability will change things for her and her children. She is the poster parent of how to get yourself out of a bad situation and change things for your future! I admire her, and when you meet her you will understand how hard it was to turn things around. But she did it!
