Story
DFCS is asking for assistance with one of our families. After 16 years of abuse, the mother has finally gained the courage and support to press charges against the father of her children after he choked her and her daughter. The mother lives with her 3 minor children. The mother had her leg amputated in 2024 due to issues with diabetes and has not had employment or disability benefits since. She has just obtained a prosthetic leg last week and once she obtains a vehicle and strengthens her ability to walk, will find employment. The abusive father did not allow her to work for a period of time, so she does not have savings to support herself or her children. The department is working on a long term solution but the mother needs assistance as soon as possible to bridge the gap. The mother has a doctor appt. Thursday 04/24 for a follow up for her prosthetic and she and her children have PCP appointments the following week, 04/28, that she will need to utilize transportation assistance to be present for. The immediate need is an Uber card. She will need ongoing support until she is stabilized.
