Caregiver needs a black, six or eight wooden/sturdy dresser for her half sibling. The youth’s current dresser is broken. The caregiver is married and has two small children, and was willing to open her home for her younger half sibling due to family circumstances related to a history of domestic violence and substance abuse. The caregiver has sacrificed to care for her younger half sibling and does all she can to ensure her younger sibling is cared for and protected. The caregiver and youth are meeting the case plan goals/court orders. Furthermore, caregiver is committed to legal guardianship through KinGap. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is because I want to support the family and also assist with providing a safe environment for the youth. DCFS is requesting a black six to eight drawer wooden dresser, otherwise the youth will continue to have a broken dresser that could possible fall apart as the youth continues to use. This need is being requested through Care Portal because unfortunately, DCFS’ timeframe in providing this item would take too long, as the youth needs a functioning and safe dresser. The estimated cost of the dresser being requested is $200.00.

Caregiver/mother needs car seat, toddler bed, mattress, bedding and a high chair. The family’s case is newly opened. Children detained from father and mother and children residing with MGM. Mother moved in with MGM and is in need of the requested items. Mother has faced some financially hardships and had been working prior to separating from father. Mother is receiving CalWorks and financial aid as she is a college student but is not suffice for mother to purchase a toddler bed, high chair and car seat for the children. Despite the mother’s financial hardships, she is working toward the case plan and goals. Mother’s main goal is to maintain the children in her care, continue to have a bond with them and not put the children at risk of abuse. For this reason, I am advocating for mother to have the need identified. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is to provide a safe, enjoyable and comfortable environment for the children. DCFS has assisted the family by providing diapers and appropriate activities. This need is critical to ensuring child safety, the children to be in a safe car seat and to have their own sleeping area. This need is being requested through Care Portal because unfortunately DCFS does not have these items to provide to the family. The estimated cost of the need/s being requested is approximately $600.00.

Baby girl was born in November of 2024. Mother has extreme mental health conditions and diagnosis's, shortly after giving birth mother was admitted to the State Mental Health hospital in Colorado where she currently remains. Due to this father was forced to quit his full-time job to be able to stay home and care for the newborn. Since having to leave his long-time employment father is experiencing significant financial hardships and received an eviction notice. Father was able to receive emergency assistance to remain in the home until May 2025, the landlord is not willing to continue to rent to this family. Father will be moving into a shelter on May 1st with his infant daughter and teenage son. The family is not able to bring many belongings with them and is need of a storage unit for 1-3 months or a place to store their household belongings while they work to get on their feet at shelter.

The mother is a single parent with 3 children ages 11, 3 and 1-year-old. The mother still has custody of all children however the 11-year-old and 3 year-old are temporarily residing with relatives as mother and the baby currently resides in a treatment program. Due to the dynamics of the program, the mother is unable to work and has a limited income. As a result, the family is experiencing financial hardship. The mother continues to thrive at working toward addressing the issues that brought the family before the attention of the Department. The 3 year old child is primarily being supervised by her Maternal Great-grandmother. The 3 year old needs additional safety supports due to her age and development. The mother successfully completed the in-patient full/drug alcohol and has now transitioned to Aftercare recovery. The 3 year old is a very hyperactive and is currently in the process of being assessed for the regional center to rule out any delays. As a result, she is in need of additional supportive and security measures while she is in the care of her Maternal Great-Grandmother to prevent the child from absconding and to keep the child in close proximity while out. Fulfilling this request would promote additional safety precautions for the child who is of a young age as she travels within the community to explore resources to support her family’s transition. The total price breakdowns for the security gate range from $9.99-$16.99 excluding sales tax.

The referred family is requesting assistance obtaining a queen size mattress for the family. The low-income family has limited resources, and the family is in need of a queen-size mattress and box spring. The current bed owned by the family has black mold and the family is unable to purchase another mattress due to their limited resources . The family would be appreciative of any help and want to explore all options to make their children as comfortable as possible at home

An impoverished young couple with a child who is 3.5 years old recently moved out of their parents’ home (which was in terrible condition) and into their own apartment. They both work at a local fast-food restaurant and find it currently difficult to meet their bills because of their new transition to the apartment. They need help with rent, a phone bill, a power company deposit, groceries, and diapers. They both missed work on Easter and the bonus the store was supposed to receive was denied because the restaurant didn’t meet their sales quota. Their current church has also helped them out with money, furniture, and household goods donations. If you are interested in helping this young couple, please see the additional needs to help this family get started on a sure footing. The bills are due 4/30/25.
