We are excited to announce that Center Church is collecting items to stock our newly opened Care Closet. Our goal is to provide emergency supplies to families in need right here in City Heights and the surrounding areas.

We are in need of the following items: 25 Twin Bedsheets 10 Standard Pillows 10 Boxes of Diapers 10 Boxes of Baby Wipes 10 Boxes of Ninjamas/Goodnights Kids Clothing (Ages 0-10yrs)

I have a mother with two children who are fleeing DV/SA. They are finally able to move forward with housing and are moving into their own place in the next few days and are in need of a twin bed and a full size bed and bedding for both.

Non-minor Dependent (19 year old) recently moved into her own apartment and is still acclimating to her new surroundings. She is very excited as this is her new apartment. She has been making do thus far but can use this assistance to stabilize and settle into her place, now that she is living on her own. She is asking for a Walmart card that she would be able to use to buy the following cleaning product. She would like to buy the following items: laundry detergent, multipurpose cleaner, bleach, kitchen sponges dishwashing liquid, sanitary napkins, deodorant and shower gel. If someone can assist her with these items, it would greatly be appreciated. Thank you.

We have a home that is awaiting/pending RFA approval as the relative caregiver needs help organizing & cleaning her home. Currently, the caregiver has a total of five (5) children in the home. Due to recent birth of the twin babies, the caregiver has fallen behind with cleaning and organizing the home. The family is in need of a 1x cleaning service for the 2-bedroom apartment. Also, the relative caregiver needs two (2) six drawer dressers to store/organize the children's clothes. By fulfilling this request, it would assist with the relative caregiver's home being approved. Please note that two requests are being submitted for this family (one for cleaning service and one for the dressers). This request is for the two (2) six drawer dressers

Caregiver needs a black, six or eight wooden/sturdy dresser for her half sibling. The youth’s current dresser is broken. The caregiver is married and has two small children, and was willing to open her home for her younger half sibling due to family circumstances related to a history of domestic violence and substance abuse. The caregiver has sacrificed to care for her younger half sibling and does all she can to ensure her younger sibling is cared for and protected. The caregiver and youth are meeting the case plan goals/court orders. Furthermore, caregiver is committed to legal guardianship through KinGap. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is because I want to support the family and also assist with providing a safe environment for the youth. DCFS is requesting a black six to eight drawer wooden dresser, otherwise the youth will continue to have a broken dresser that could possible fall apart as the youth continues to use. This need is being requested through Care Portal because unfortunately, DCFS’ timeframe in providing this item would take too long, as the youth needs a functioning and safe dresser. The estimated cost of the dresser being requested is $200.00.

Caregiver/mother needs car seat, toddler bed, mattress, bedding and a high chair. The family’s case is newly opened. Children detained from father and mother and children residing with MGM. Mother moved in with MGM and is in need of the requested items. Mother has faced some financially hardships and had been working prior to separating from father. Mother is receiving CalWorks and financial aid as she is a college student but is not suffice for mother to purchase a toddler bed, high chair and car seat for the children. Despite the mother’s financial hardships, she is working toward the case plan and goals. Mother’s main goal is to maintain the children in her care, continue to have a bond with them and not put the children at risk of abuse. For this reason, I am advocating for mother to have the need identified. The main reason I am requesting this need to be fulfilled is to provide a safe, enjoyable and comfortable environment for the children. DCFS has assisted the family by providing diapers and appropriate activities. This need is critical to ensuring child safety, the children to be in a safe car seat and to have their own sleeping area. This need is being requested through Care Portal because unfortunately DCFS does not have these items to provide to the family. The estimated cost of the need/s being requested is approximately $600.00.

An impoverished young couple with a child who is 3.5 years old recently moved out of their parents’ home (which was in terrible condition) and into their own apartment. They both work at a local fast-food restaurant and find it currently difficult to meet their bills because of their new transition to the apartment. They need help with rent, a phone bill, a power company deposit, groceries, and diapers. They both missed work on Easter and the bonus the store was supposed to receive was denied because the restaurant didn’t meet their sales quota. Their current church has also helped them out with money, furniture, and household goods donations. If you are interested in helping this young couple, please see the additional needs to help this family get started on a sure footing. The bills are due 4/30/25.
