Single mom survived d a 10 year DV relationship and has been living in a shelter while fighting for custody of her 3 children. Her talented children consist of an 11 year old girl, 9 year old boy, 4 year old son who is autistic. Mom working diligently in school to better her future while providing and trying to create the best secure atmosphere for her children. "Its so hard, I don't let my kids see it so they can stay on the track but, its so hard". I don't like to get my hopes up because of all the let downs, I know God will make a way". Mom is asking for a few things to make her temporary living situation a bit better, excited while afraid of finding a place because she cant afford to furnish it and worried it would be used against her to take her kids.

Mom is so brave and has a relentless drive in her, does needs some help but more so community to coral around her, she feels so alone.

I met a young single mom, K, yesterday who is facing homelessness. She, & her 12 year old daughter currently lives in Terrace Greene with her mother, & are being evicted on Sunday evening. K's mom has a place to go but K & her 12 year old do not. She is on a list at Hawk's Landing & I confirmed with the office that she should be able to move in within about a week, probably 4-7 days. She hopes to get a job in the Ruckersville area within walking distance of Food Lion. She currently works out in Louisa but shares the car with her mother, so that will be difficult when they are living in different places.
GRACE can likely help her with first months rent when she gets in, but we cannot help her with both first months rent and a hotel stay until the apartment becomes available. We are seeking nights at a hotel or an available room where she and her daughter can stay until getting the apartment at Hawk's Landing. Please reach out to Jennifer Smith, if you can help with this. Unfortunately the person who offers reduced rates is not available at the Holiday Inn. If different churches pay each church needs to make a different reservation which would be difficult. Current rate is around $140 a night. Let me know how many nights you could cover for her and I will start a reservation with that many nights and ask that you either send funds through GRACE or stop in the hotel and pay cash towards the reservation.

The case came to DCFS attention due to boyfriend’s brother sexually abusing one of the kids. Mother and children were court ordered to move to grandmother’s home in Anaheim. This caused a lot of distress for mom since the home was not suited for a family of 4 and the 4 of them slept on the couch and floor. The mother and grandmother's relationship is not good, so mother's partner was able to get a place in San Bernardino for them. The family currently has been on a tight budget for rent and food, due to using monies to relocate. Also certain services have not transferred from LA County to San Bernardino County. The DPSS case is still not fully transferred over to SB county yet so mother has no income of food support yet. The mother wants to work but she reports her current mental state and anxiety is not stable enough. Financially the family is struggling, and the social worker has exhausted all resources and has been denied since the children are home with their parent. Grocery assistance is needed due for the family. Daily the mother looks for deals of the day to feed the family. They are also in need of a gas card to assist them due to 1 child's therapy services still being in Fullerton. Mother also has to drug test as well, and the closest testing site is in Pomona. DCFS has requested case to be transferred to be SB County so family can receive proper services, but Court keeps extending court date.

I have a mother that is moving into her own apartment in a couple of weeks and she is in need of a couple items. She has started overnights and we will be moving towards trial home visits this summer. She has overcome her addiction and making such amazing progress.
