Aunt has her two nephews placed with her. The baby was sleeping in a bassinette and now that he is turning 4months old, she would like for him to have his own crib to sleep in. The family has just moved into a new home and the aunt would like for the crib to match the furniture that the older brother already has, as the boys will be sharing a room. We have a mom of four kids in need with her electricity bill. She was on a payment plan with AEP but missed a payment, now owing the full amount. They do have a disconnection notice for May 14th. Any assistance to help this family is greatly appreciated!!

Family foster placement is working on their licensing and needing to place the female children in one bedroom. This family is in need of bunkbeds to help facilitate the licensing process. This is a single foster mom with limited income attempting to raise her own children along with her foster niece on a limited income budget. They will need the bunkbed and mattresses and bedding would be helpful.

Family is in need of two twin sized mattresses, the bed frames and bedding have been secured.

Mom and her 4 daughters had to leave their former state and come to Minnesota due to a domestic violence situation. Thus, they are starting completely fresh. Large quantities are due to the # of students.

Mom could also use help with purchasing other household items because they lost everything when they had to flee their unsafe situation. This could come in the form of a Walmart or Target gift card.

A couple is needing assistance paying a security deposit on a rental in the amount of $400 so they can get moved ASAP and work toward reunification with their children. They both have very strong work ethics and often walk across town to get to work, but they are on a limited income and need this assistance in paying this security deposit.

We have a foster family caring for 9 children that had to purchase a new vehicle this weekend. Their van died suddenly and this was not a planned purchase. They had to use most of their funds for the down payment, and are requesting help with groceries for the rest of this month. Please consider funding this need or purchasing a Kroger gift card. One of our members has a washer and dryer to donate. A newly arrived refugee family with a disabled child is in great need of these donated units. We are looking for help from our church to pick up and deliver the washer and dryer. A pick up truck is needed, also volunteers to load, unload and install.

I met a young single mom, yesterday who is facing homelessness. She and her 12 year old daughter currently live in an apartment with her mother and are being evicted on Sunday evening. The grandmother has a place to go but this mom and her 12 year old do not. She is on a list to move in to housing in 4-7 days. She hopes to get a job in the Ruckersville area within walking distance of Food Lion.
GRACE can likely help her with first months rent when she gets in, but cannot help her with both first months rent and a hotel stay until the apartment becomes available. We are seeking nights at a hotel or an available room where she and her daughter can stay until getting the apartment. Please reach out if you can help with this. If different churches pay each church needs to make a different reservation which would be difficult. Current rate is around $140 a night. Let me know how many nights you could cover for her and I will start a reservation with that many nights and ask that you either send funds through GRACE or stop in the hotel and pay cash towards the reservation.

April showers bring May flowers! We’re sowing seeds of hope within the foster care community, connecting with kind and compassionate individuals to help us find safe and affordable housing for Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy. We’re praying for a harvest soon, as they must be fully moved out of their home by the end of June. Kennedy is preparing to graduate from high school in just a few weeks and is stepping into the next chapter of adulthood. Cameron has been thriving in New York; he's already received a glowing letter of praise from a client for being so helpful! Sherry recently started a new job assisting a senior during the day, and Kaya has been a big help in organizing, packing, and preparing for the upcoming move.
