A mom and her young son are moving forward from a domestic violence situation. The abuser is out of the home and an injunction to prevent future violence is in place. However, both mom and child are struggling with the constant reminders of the household violence that are around the home. Mom is asking for help to repair minor damage to walls and fix the broken bedroom door. She feels this will help her son feel safe in the home again.

This need could be met through a handyman service or a volunteer. If your church is aware of a business that may donate services, please let me know.

Due to the kinship parent living on a fixed income, he is needing help with getting items needed to insure a kinship placement .

Due to the family living on a fixed income, they are in need of help with baby items to help maintain a placement. The family is needing help with getting baby lock for doors and a baby monitor to ensure safety.

A family with a total of 6 children, 3 boys and 3 girls. Two of the girls in the family, ages 11 and 13 have entered into foster care. The family has been faced with history significant trauma, of which has led to unintentional neglect and instability. Of which the two girls have struggled with maintaining social connections, education, and overall safety. Some stability has been obtained due to the current caregiver. Both girls are quite talented. The 13-year-old is in a sports activity which they have secured financial support for. The 11-year-old girl has incredible talent and passion for gymnastic and has earned a place on a competitive National Gymnastic Association team. This would be a new experience for her, and it is very important to her. The parents do not currently have the financial means to afford the initial or monthly costs for their child to participate in competitive gymnastics. I know this is a big ask...If it is at all possible for her to participate it would mean so much to her and her family. There are not any scholarships available at this time but there should be some available in future years. With considering the peer connections and esteem boost alone, this would be a positively impactful opportunity for her. Any support contributing towards this dream would be greatly appreciated. A single mother of three recently relocated to the Jacksonville area in search of safety and stability after leaving a difficult situation. With incredible courage, she is starting over to build a better life for herself and her children. As a former foster youth who aged out of the system, the client has no local family or support network to rely on during this major life transition.

Currently, the family is without basic home furnishings, making it difficult to create a stable and nurturing environment. The mother is in need of essential furniture to help turn their new space into a functional, safe, and welcoming home for her children.

Family is in need of two twin sized mattresses, the bed frames and bedding have been secured.

One of our members has a washer and dryer to donate. A newly arrived refugee family with a disabled child is in great need of these donated units. We are looking for help from our church to pick up and deliver the washer and dryer. A pick up truck is needed, also volunteers to load, unload and install.

I met a young single mom, yesterday who is facing homelessness. She and her 12 year old daughter currently live in an apartment with her mother and are being evicted on Sunday evening. The grandmother has a place to go but this mom and her 12 year old do not. She is on a list to move in to housing in 4-7 days. She hopes to get a job in the Ruckersville area within walking distance of Food Lion.
GRACE can likely help her with first months rent when she gets in, but cannot help her with both first months rent and a hotel stay until the apartment becomes available. We are seeking nights at a hotel or an available room where she and her daughter can stay until getting the apartment. Please reach out if you can help with this. If different churches pay each church needs to make a different reservation which would be difficult. Current rate is around $140 a night. Let me know how many nights you could cover for her and I will start a reservation with that many nights and ask that you either send funds through GRACE or stop in the hotel and pay cash towards the reservation.

We’re sowing seeds of hope within the foster care community, connecting with kind and compassionate individuals to help us find safe and affordable housing for Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy. We’re praying for a harvest soon, as they must be fully moved out of their home by the end of June. Kennedy is preparing to graduate from high school in just a few weeks and is stepping into the next chapter of adulthood. Cameron has been thriving in New York; he's already received a glowing letter of praise from a client for being so helpful! Sherry recently started a new job assisting a senior during the day, and Kaya has been a big help in organizing, packing, and preparing for the upcoming move.
