We are reaching out to request assistance in helping a devoted single mother cover her rent for the month. This mother exemplifies strength and perseverance. She balances long work hours with the demands of parenting, making sure her daughter has the stability and care she needs. Her daughter is bright, kind, and full of potential, and her mom is determined to give her every chance to succeed. After falling behind on utility bills, most of her recent income went toward catching up, leaving little for rent. Hello, This request is for a family of 2 adults and 4 children that is need of a few supplies to help the children in the home. The parents have taken in two children they are trying to help. They are working on their basement to make bedrooms more adequate for 4 children. They do have bedframes and two mattresses but are in need of a twin-size mattress and a full-size mattress. Also, one of the children they took in didn't have very many clothes. He is in need of size 14 pants, shorts, and shirts. Thank you for your consideration.

This is our second ask for a resilient single mom of two who’s facing a tough season. After bravely battling breast cancer and undergoing a mastectomy last year, she recently had a total hysterectomy — and complications after the surgery have kept her out of work for almost a month.

She used her savings to cover most of her April mortgage, but she still needs $696 to pay the remaining balance. With no income and ongoing recovery, she's under a lot of stress trying to keep her home stable for her and her kids. Our organization has been helping her navigate the health care system as she is not insured, and unfortunately, all rent/mortgage organizations that could support her will not as she does not have a legal status.

A young adult diagnosed with autism would benefit from a weighted vest or weighted shoulder wrap. This individual used to have a weighted vest that benefitted their daily wellbeing, mental health and assistance with daily activities. They have out grown vest and need one a size 3X. This resource will provide regulation and sense of safety for individual as the do daily activities at school and home.

This is a vibrant multigenerational home filled with the warmth of six individuals. They communicate in both Spanish and English. They would greatly benefit from the addition of two beds or mattresses, and perhaps a donated couch to provide more comfortable sleeping arrangements. It has been observed that two middle school girls are currently sharing a mattress with their mother on the living room floor, while a worn-out couch serves as a makeshift bed for other children when needed. Let’s come together to ensure that every member of this family has a comfortable place to rest and recharge.

Family is in need of two twin sized mattresses, the bed frames and bedding have been secured.

One of our members has a washer and dryer to donate. A newly arrived refugee family with a disabled child is in great need of these donated units. We are looking for help from our church to pick up and deliver the washer and dryer. A pick up truck is needed, also volunteers to load, unload and install.

I met a young single mom, yesterday who is facing homelessness. She and her 12 year old daughter currently live in an apartment with her mother and are being evicted on Sunday evening. The grandmother has a place to go but this mom and her 12 year old do not. She is on a list to move in to housing in 4-7 days. She hopes to get a job in the Ruckersville area within walking distance of Food Lion.
GRACE can likely help her with first months rent when she gets in, but cannot help her with both first months rent and a hotel stay until the apartment becomes available. We are seeking nights at a hotel or an available room where she and her daughter can stay until getting the apartment. Please reach out if you can help with this. If different churches pay each church needs to make a different reservation which would be difficult. Current rate is around $140 a night. Let me know how many nights you could cover for her and I will start a reservation with that many nights and ask that you either send funds through GRACE or stop in the hotel and pay cash towards the reservation.

April showers bring May flowers! We’re sowing seeds of hope within the foster care community, connecting with kind and compassionate individuals to help us find safe and affordable housing for Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy. We’re praying for a harvest soon, as they must be fully moved out of their home by the end of June. Kennedy is preparing to graduate from high school in just a few weeks and is stepping into the next chapter of adulthood. Cameron has been thriving in New York; he's already received a glowing letter of praise from a client for being so helpful! Sherry recently started a new job assisting a senior during the day, and Kaya has been a big help in organizing, packing, and preparing for the upcoming move.
