A foster youth in transition client is struggling to provide food for himself right now as he is working on obtaining employment. The youth is currently enrolled at a Technical College for automotive studies and is hoping to start a new job this month. The youth has been applying for jobs for months now. The youth is an extremely respectful, responsible, motivated, and kind individual who is doing all he can to meet his goals and currently needing assistance with food.

I am writing on behalf of one of our families to request financial support for one of our families who is experiencing profound hardship. Tragically, one of our beloved fourth-grade students has passed away after a long and courageous battle with B-cell Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. This student was known for his kindness and bright spirit, and his passing has left a deep impact on our school community.

The family is now facing the financial burden of funeral and cremation expenses. The student’s father and stepmother have expressed their desire to have him cremated, but they currently lack the necessary funds to cover the cost. They have granted the school permission to be in contact with the Funeral Home, as well.

In addition to this tragic loss, the family has faced significant challenges, including a period of homelessness. Despite these obstacles, the family has been resilient and determined advocates for their children’s well-being, working hard to improve their circumstances.

We are seeking financial assistance to provide the family with gift cards for groceries/food delivery and other basic needs to support them during this incredibly difficult time.

The student’s father and stepmother have expressed their desire to have him cremated, but they currently lack the necessary funds to cover the cost. They have granted the school permission to be in contact with the Funeral Home, as well.

We are seeking financial assistance to help cover the cost of cremation. Additionally, separately we hope to provide the family with gift cards for groceries/food delivery and other basic needs to support them during this incredibly difficult time.

Family is in need of two twin sized mattresses, the bed frames and bedding have been secured.

One of our members has a washer and dryer to donate. A newly arrived refugee family with a disabled child is in great need of these donated units. We are looking for help from our church to pick up and deliver the washer and dryer. A pick up truck is needed, also volunteers to load, unload and install.

I met a young single mom, yesterday who is facing homelessness. She and her 12 year old daughter currently live in an apartment with her mother and are being evicted on Sunday evening. The grandmother has a place to go but this mom and her 12 year old do not. She is on a list to move in to housing in 4-7 days. She hopes to get a job in the Ruckersville area within walking distance of Food Lion.
GRACE can likely help her with first months rent when she gets in, but cannot help her with both first months rent and a hotel stay until the apartment becomes available. We are seeking nights at a hotel or an available room where she and her daughter can stay until getting the apartment. Please reach out if you can help with this. If different churches pay each church needs to make a different reservation which would be difficult. Current rate is around $140 a night. Let me know how many nights you could cover for her and I will start a reservation with that many nights and ask that you either send funds through GRACE or stop in the hotel and pay cash towards the reservation.

April showers bring May flowers! We’re sowing seeds of hope within the foster care community, connecting with kind and compassionate individuals to help us find safe and affordable housing for Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy. We’re praying for a harvest soon, as they must be fully moved out of their home by the end of June. Kennedy is preparing to graduate from high school in just a few weeks and is stepping into the next chapter of adulthood. Cameron has been thriving in New York; he's already received a glowing letter of praise from a client for being so helpful! Sherry recently started a new job assisting a senior during the day, and Kaya has been a big help in organizing, packing, and preparing for the upcoming move.
