A young man has recently become homeless after being asked to leave his parents' home, with only a few personal belongings in his possession. Thankfully, a compassionate family has offered to provide him with a temporary place to stay. To help him settle in and regain stability, he is in need of a dresser and hangers for his clothing, as well as essential personal care items such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, and socks. Any support in providing these items would be greatly appreciated.

The mother is a single mother to 2 children. Her daughter has gotten bigger and has outgrown her pack and play. The mother does not want to begin co-sleeping with her daughter and is asking if we can get her a twin or twin xl bed for her to sleep on. The father has moved out of the home; she is now responsible for all the bills in the home. She is currently seeking employment but pays her bills with the child support that she receives for her eldest son.

A child has had lice for about two months now. She has missed 12 days of school and is now missing end of year testing. Her guardian has not been able to contain the lice with over-the-counter products, and she is in need of professional treatment. I have located a salon in the area that is able to provide services at a discounted rate so that she does not miss any more school. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you are able to assist, please reach out to me and I will provide the information for the salon where gift certificate can be purchased.

We have a kinship foster home in need of door alarms. This home is caring for a child who has the highest level of autism and is a flight risk. The home needs to find sensor alarms to put on the child's bedroom door and the front door, to avoid the child leaving in the middle of the night. The home is unable to purchase these on their own and need to obtain these door sensors as soon as possible.

We are writing on behalf of a 12 year old girl who over the past year, she has been hospitalized twice as she and her care team work together to help her find stability. Despite everything she’s been through, she continues to show remarkable strength and resilience. Her biggest request is for a bike to help her feel "normal". This bike would give her a sense of normalcy, independence, and something to look forward to as she continues her recovery. If there is any way to help fulfill this request, it would mean the world to her—and to everyone who has watched her fight so hard to feel like a kid again. Family is in need of two twin sized mattresses, the bed frames and bedding have been secured.

One of our members has a washer and dryer to donate. A newly arrived refugee family with a disabled child is in great need of these donated units. We are looking for help from our church to pick up and deliver the washer and dryer. A pick up truck is needed, also volunteers to load, unload and install.

I met a young single mom, yesterday who is facing homelessness. She and her 12 year old daughter currently live in an apartment with her mother and are being evicted on Sunday evening. The grandmother has a place to go but this mom and her 12 year old do not. She is on a list to move in to housing in 4-7 days. She hopes to get a job in the Ruckersville area within walking distance of Food Lion.
GRACE can likely help her with first months rent when she gets in, but cannot help her with both first months rent and a hotel stay until the apartment becomes available. We are seeking nights at a hotel or an available room where she and her daughter can stay until getting the apartment. Please reach out if you can help with this. If different churches pay each church needs to make a different reservation which would be difficult. Current rate is around $140 a night. Let me know how many nights you could cover for her and I will start a reservation with that many nights and ask that you either send funds through GRACE or stop in the hotel and pay cash towards the reservation.

We’re sowing seeds of hope within the foster care community, connecting with kind and compassionate individuals to help us find safe and affordable housing for Sherry, Kaya, and Kennedy. We’re praying for a harvest soon, as they must be fully moved out of their home by the end of June. Kennedy is preparing to graduate from high school in just a few weeks and is stepping into the next chapter of adulthood. Cameron has been thriving in New York; he's already received a glowing letter of praise from a client for being so helpful! Sherry recently started a new job assisting a senior during the day, and Kaya has been a big help in organizing, packing, and preparing for the upcoming move.
