A Family Stepping Up for Kin—Now in Need of Support

A local family with two children of their own recently opened their hearts and home to care for two young relatives who needed a safe and loving place to stay. Overnight, their household doubled in size—bringing both joy and new challenges as they work to create a stable and nurturing environment for all four children.

Through the Fostering Hope Closet, the family received two beds and mattresses, along with clothing and essential items to help ease the transition for the new children. This support has made a significant difference, giving the children a safe place to sleep and the comfort of having their own belongings.

However, the family is still in urgent need of a couch and a washer and dryer. With limited seating, gathering together as a family for quality time is difficult. A couch would provide a central place where these children can relax, connect, and feel at home.

A washer and dryer would meet a critical daily need. With four young children, laundry quickly becomes overwhelming. Having these appliances at home would ease the strain on both time and finances, allowing the caregivers to focus more fully on nurturing and supporting the children in their care.

These items will do more than furnish a home—they will help restore stability, dignity, and peace of mind to a family working hard to do the right thing in a difficult season.

KINSHIP. Maternal Grandmother was the Legal Guardian of her 11-year-old grandson. Last month the 11 yar-old died by suicide. The caregiver is grief stricken at this time and in need of support. She asked for assistance with groceries in the form of a gift card to WinCo Foods. The family can utilize all avenues of support at this delicate time.

A Fresh Start for a Family Working Toward Reunification

This determined mother is working hard to reunite with her two young children, currently in foster care. Recently, she moved into a new home, eager to create a stable and loving environment for her children.

Thanks to the generous support of the Fostering Hope Closet, she has been provided with a table and chairs, a full bed and mattress, an end table, and a TV stand—items that will make her new house feel more like a home. These essential furnishings provide a sense of comfort and security for both her and her children, helping them build a fresh foundation together.

However, the family is still in need of two dressers and two baby gates to ensure that her children have a safe, organized space to grow and thrive. The dressers will allow her children to store their clothes and belongings, giving them a sense of stability and normalcy. The baby gates will ensure the children’s safety as they explore their new space, offering peace of mind to the mother as she continues her efforts toward reunification.

Two and three year old children are living with their aunt while their mother, who lives in her car, works toward getting herself together. Ana is terrified of the dark as a result of her experiences with her mother. Aunt is wonderful but is struggling to provide for the girls. Currently Ana sleeps on a mattress on the floor. She needs a toddler bed and some bed linens. Any help that aunt can get would help strengthen the family.

Kinship. This family was affected by the LA Wildfires and this is for Disaster Relief. Kin Caregiver is currently caring for two teenage boys, and the family was displaced due to the LA wildfires. The family is currently staying at a motel. The home did not burn down but it was damaged, and they had to move out. The landlord has the caregiver in limbo because the landlord is not sure what she will do with the property. The caregiver is paying for 2 rooms nightly which totals $160.00 before taxes. Paying for the rooms, food and gas has been a lot for her. The caregiver stated that she is need of assistance with housing, gas for her car (ARCO) funding for groceries ( Walmart or Food 4 Less), the hotel rooms daily payment as well as clothing and hygiene products for the two teenage boys. She is not working right now but wants to find employment. She receives funding for the boys. She also stated that it is difficult to find employment right now due to being displaced. She is requesting the following: hotel assistance- $500, grocery gift card to Walmart or Food 4 Less-$400, gas gift to Arco-$200.00, clothing and shoes for children- $300.00 (each child) and gift card for hygiene products- $100.00 (each child).

a single mother without job has twin girls and she is struggling with the situation. One of the more important things in this moment for this mom is about diapers, she needs a lot of them because she has twins, and helping with this can her some relief in her economic situation. Her babies are 9 months and she needs 2 pack of 50 or more. if you help with this you prevent any bad situation for this mom and her twins

An expectant mother is in need of basic items for a newborn due later this month (May). The mother's community health coach requested an infant car seat, diapers, wipes. These items will allow the child safe transport and will supply the baby's diapering needs for a few weeks. We still need funds for the CARSEAT, WIPES, and DIAPERS. We are celebrating Foster Care Awareness / Appreciation month by hosting a FREE POOL PARTY at River Country Water Parks in Muskogee Oklahoma. We will be inviting current foster and adoptive families from 10+ counties surrounding the Muskogee area to attend. In addition to the pool party, we will be offering information to families of local resources and churches that they can connect with as well as dates for summer activities for VBS and children / youth camps that churches are participating in and inviting children to come to.

The party will be Saturday, May 31st from 6:30-8:30pm with capacity being roughly 700-800 individuals. We will have an RSVP process for the families. We are asking for our networking churches to contribute to the cost of renting the water facility out - $1,200. Any amount helps! We have a beautiful family that arrived here a few years ago from Afghanistan. often the women have to take the children with to stores and other places. this women just had another child and a double stroller to help with a newborn and a 2 year old would be a huge blessing! we give gently used, clean ones - or you could purchase one. t

A church member has a college student, at New River Community College, in a class that is currently homeless along with his father. His father broke both his arms in a work accident due to faulty equipment. Since he is unable to work and the company has put a hold on workers compensation until July they are in need of assistance. The father is unable to work at least until he has surgery on both arms. Their current needs are food and gas for him to get back and forth to work and school.
