Hello Community Supporters! We are holding our annual Kinship/Foster Parent Appreciation Celebration in June 2025! Kinship families are unique in that they take placement of children on an emergency basis who they have a prior relationship with in order to prevent children from being placed in the foster-care system. Placing children with family or friends often reduces the trauma children go through when separated from parents and it strengthens the natural familial and community supports they already have in place. Families do this with little to no ongoing financial support, yet they make it work everyday for these precious children. Foster families are such a need in this community and they open their homes to children with no where else to go. These families selflessly get licensed knowing the need in our community. . The Kinship/Foster Care Unit is hoping to be able to provide gift cards through a raffle to each family at the event in the amount of $50 for grocery stores, Walmart or Target, or other locations in town where items for the family can be purchased. Another option is to provide specific items to raffle off to the families such as fun activities for the children or gift baskets, be creative!

This request is on behalf of a prospective adoptive family currently caring for a 2-year-old girl with significant medical needs. They are seeking assistance in obtaining a single stroller to help transport her safely and comfortably during outings. A new or gently used donated stroller would be greatly appreciated.

A mother of 3 that has maintained a stable job is in need of a gas card. Her employer has cut her hours, however has started back more consistently this week. Due to the lack of hours it has led to her not having enough money for gas. If she does not have gas she will not be able to get to work. I am asking for $40 for her for a gas card. Any amount even if it is less, will be much appreicated!

This precious Spanish-speaking family has been part of our parenting program since they first arrived in Corpus Christi, seeking care and hope after their 2-year-old daughter had to be halo flighted from McAllen to Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Since then, they’ve shown nothing but strength through the unimaginable. Just shortly after their move, this sweet mother lost her own father—the children’s grandfather—unexpectedly. Walking through the pain of that sudden loss while still fighting for her daughter’s health took incredible bravery. Now, a year later, she longs to honor his memory at the one-year memorial and life celebration service on Wednesday the 21st, but she simply doesn’t have the means to make it there. A bus ticket to Reynosa is $35, and a ticket to Veracruz is $95, each way. She would need to leave Sunday, to get there on time. Being present for this special moment would mean the world to her—a way to grieve, to remember, and to find peace with the love of her family. If there’s any way to help her attend, it would be such a beautiful gift to someone who has carried so much with grace.

Mother and dad of newborn have been living in their car for 14 months. Baby is now 2 months old. They both work and pay car payments but cannot afford to get established in an apartment or home. Baby is growing and they are in desperate need to have a different living situation for their family. They have been sleeping in a classroom on the floor of our church 3 nights a week, for this past month and the church cannot sustain this arrangement indefinitely. They are very polite, hardworking, clean and cooperative. We have prayed about this and believe a camper would be the best goal for them at this time. They can afford an RV park with utilities and start to get a lead on a permanent residence.

We are seeking urgent support for a family with two children at risk of losing stable housing. The family is currently facing eviction, with a balance of $3,587 due. If the balance is paid before the court date, they will be allowed to remain in their home. The mother is actively working side jobs and may be able to contribute a portion of the amount.

This support request is focused on preserving housing stability for the children, ensuring they are not displaced and can remain in a safe, familiar environment. Assistance toward this housing need would directly prevent trauma and disruption in their lives.

Please consider helping keep this family together and housed.

Again, we are out of beds with the other recent arrivals and the funds that were normally given to the refugee resettlement agencies being stopped. For these two families again, we need beds (always) and another coffee table.

Glocal has already provided through community donations other furniture that they needed along with household goods. always feel free to inquire more about our programs .

Although it may seem unlikely, we are still seeing families arrive through the refugee process. They come with basically nothing and through Glocal, we provide them new and gently used items donated through the community to help them get started in their first home in the Treasure Valley. We have one large Afghan family of 9 that we have in temporary housing and will move into two apartments in the near future. We are short beds and tables for several families. this request is for the larger family that arrived a few weeks ago. To keep things less costly, they will need to put several children in one room and bunk beds will help. they also could use some coffee tables and end tables. Glocal has been able to provide them with their other needs through earlier donations.

A family has contacted our church in need of help to pay their rent for $1,100. We were able to provide $500 from our church. They are still in need of $600.00 to keep from being evicted. This is a single mother with a teen son and younger daughter. the mother has been sick for a few weeks and was short on her rent. She has also been helping her sister with a serious medical condition. Thank you in advance for any help you may be able to provide this family.
