We are currently assisting a single mother residing in the Bronx with her two children a young boy and a six-year-old girl. The daughter recently joined our mentorship program, and we are working closely with the family to help strengthen their home environment and overall well-being.

The mother has faced significant challenges ongoing difficulty accessing essential resources. Despite these circumstances, she continues to cover the family’s basic needs, including rent, utilities, and food, with limited financial support.

To help provide a more stable and supportive home environment, we are requesting the following items:

One bunk bed for the children to ensure they have a safe and comfortable place to sleep, which is essential for their physical health and emotional security. These resources will contribute directly to the children’s academic success, personal growth, and sense of stability. Student was recently diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes and there is some concern for him having proper snacks going into the summer. We are asking for gift cards to local grocery stores to help support this request. This recent diagnosis has put a financial burden on the family because there are other medical issues within the family.

A young single mother of two children under the age of two is currently facing significant challenges. With no income and no support from family, her situation has become increasingly difficult. Although she is actively searching for employment, securing a job has been especially hard without access to childcare. Among her many pressing needs, one of the most immediate is a toddler bed and mattress for her 1-year-old. At the moment, the child is sharing a bed with both the mother and infant sibling, which is not ideal for anyone’s comfort or well-being. Meeting this need would not only provide the family with a more comfortable sleeping arrangement, but it would also help promote a sense of safety, independence, and confidence for the growing toddler. Additionally, it would offer the mother some much-needed relief during a very stressful time.

A local family is struggling and requesting assistance. The mother and the father have seven children (some are his biological children, and some are her biological childen). The mother and the father have separated, and the father is no longer in the home. However, his biological children stayed with the mother (their stepmother) in the home. A few months ago, the mother lost her job. The family is in need of food/grocery store gift cards and gas cards and would greatly appreciate any assistance offered.

Currently working with a single father who is facing a series of devastating setbacks. Recently, his employer downsized, drastically cutting his hours, leaving him with barely enough income to stay afloat. As if that wasn’t enough, his car—his only means of getting to work and taking his daughters to school—broke down unexpectedly. The repairs were costly, forcing him to use what little he had saved just to keep it running. Now, he’s behind on rent and accumulating late fees, with eviction looming over his head. Despite doing everything he can to provide, his application for EBT was denied, leaving him unable to afford even the most basic groceries. He’s the sole caregiver to three growing daughters who need food, clothing, and other daily essentials, and can use a Walmart or target gift card. Urgently needs support especially food cards and basic necessities.

A family has contacted our church in need of help to pay their rent. They are in need of $600.00 to keep being evicted.

This request is from the family support specialist at the Middletown Early Learning Center. The family has a child in the preschool program and attends for half day sessions. The family phone and internet bills have been shut off, and they're in need $153 to turn on their cell phone service again and $205 for their internet service. School meetings are often held via Zoom and/or phone so both services are important for the family to maintain communication with the school.
