We are reaching out to our compassionate community on behalf of a local family who has stepped up in love and faith to adopt two young boys into their home. These boys are relatives of the family and were recently and abruptly placed into their care due to unexpected circumstances. The transition was sudden, and while the family has embraced them with open hearts, they are in need of some practical support to help the boys settle in and feel at home.

What is Needed: Bedroom Items

Bedding sets (sheets, comforters, pillows)

Dressers or storage drawers

Lamps or night lights

Clothing Needs:

Boys’ clothing Underwear, socks,

Shoes and seasonal outerwear

Why It Matters: This family didn’t hesitate to say “yes” when these boys needed a safe and loving place to land. They are committed to providing a stable, nurturing home where these children can heal, grow, and thrive. However, taking in two children so suddenly has placed a strain on their resources, and they are currently trying to set up the boys’ living space from scratch.

A family with a child with special needs (seizure disorder and autism) is seeking assistance for a small portable air conditioner. Initially mom thought that the landlord got this fixed but as the days get hotter the a/c cannot keep up. The child’s seizures worsen with heat and the mom is about to undergo a surgery. Does anyone have a used portable a/c that can be donated? Or can you find it in your heart to donate to this cause?

Single Grandmother caregivers Took in her grandkids (9-8-3) under DCFS detention and adopted them last year,Because parent drug addiction was stronger than love for children, She just called that her other daughter 3 children (8-5-2) wear detained for domestic abuse, CSW called and place them with her she needs 2 sets of Bunk Beds with Mattresses and Comforts and protectors and blankets, sheets and 2 Dressers, ASAP so she can pass RFA approval.

A grandmother age 68 with many health issue and battling cancer, took a grandson informally over 12 years and several years later another grandDaughter was born prenatally drug exposed DCFS Placed her with this Caregiver she adopted this granddaughter and lately her mental health and special needs have increased so much they placed her on a 3150 hold and are recommending she be placed in a residential care, she is working with adoption assistance services to get the service in the home, She has a lot of needs in the home. She is sole provider of these teens and on $700 SSI fund she does live in a low income apt and gets food stamps, and AAP funding for the Adopted Granddaughter but barely scrapes by her son helps out minimally. She has no other support. She needs desperate car repairs estimate $300.00, needs new tire and alignment estimate $700.00 and needs 2 dressers for kids

Grandfather and wife are raising 3 paternal grandchildren, his son and daughter in-law are struggling with addiction, and he took the grandchildren care before DCFS intervened, so they have no support or funding. He married his wife a few years ago, he was a single Father of 3 sons, two of his sons still live with him the work part time and study, they help out as much as they can. Grandfather lost sight of one of his eyes in a work injury a few years ago, he was on workers comp he just started receiving SSDI for the amount of $1,600.00 he is needs a new stove only two burners are working and there refrigerator is not working at all the power outage a few months ago shifted something he had it fixed 3 times but continues to not work they cannot store food. they are behind on some of their bills and have made payment arrangements. the Stove and Refrigerator are urgent need.

Grandfather caring for his grandson they are an informal Guardianship; they get no financial support. Grandfather was laid off and thing have been hard the last few months, he has not found work and his car needs new tires he got an estimate of $1000.00 and his registration is also due $286.00 just applied for his SSI it will take a month or two for outcome, meanwhile he is still going to job interview, hopefully he will find a job, he needs his care for daily arrears taking his grandson to school and medical appointments, He really can’t fill this need, Food and keeping a roof over their head takes priority his wife is working and earns minimum wage. With cost of living so high it's been a struggle on one income,

Single mother (who Emmaus members have been walking alongside) escaping domestic violence from husband along with two kids under the age of 7 years. She is starting over from scratch as they left the house with nothing and has no extended family support. She would like to have a car which would provide transportation so she can get a job so that she can get into housing. We are hoping to provide $3,000 towards a vehicle.

3 boys, ages 11, 7, and 3, are being placed with their maternal aunt. She needs a twin-size bunk bed frame, two twin mattresses, and bedding to go with them. The older boys are also in need of clothing:

Boy (11)- size small men or 14/16 boy’s shorts and shirt Boy (7)- 7/8 shirts 5/6 shorts

Mother and dad of newborn have been living in their car for 14 months. Baby is now 2 months old. They both work and pay car payments but cannot afford to get established in an apartment or home. Baby is growing and they are in desperate need to have a different living situation for their family. They have been sleeping in a classroom on the floor of our church 3 nights a week, for this past month and the church cannot sustain this arrangement indefinitely. They are very polite, hardworking, clean and cooperative. We have prayed about this and believe a camper would be the best goal for them at this time. They can afford an RV park with utilities and start to get a lead on a permanent residence.
