A loving and dedicated caregiver is providing care for a three-year-old toddler and a 10-month-old baby boy through Kinship Care. He has courageously stepped up to raise both children on his own, without outside assistance. While he is in the process of applying for financial benefits to support the boys, some immediate needs remain. Currently, he is seeking support with two dressers to store the children’s clothing. Any assistance provided will be deeply appreciated.

Youth male is requesting an electric guitar to promote the acquisition of coping skills to support his diagnoses of ADHD and PTSD. The youth is currently in the process of being adopted by his Paternal Uncle who has helped to stabilize the youth. The family is low income and the Paternal Uncle is the sole care provide for the child. Prior to placement in his uncle’s home, the youth transitioned to 9 prior foster homes. The youth has extensive trauma and has previously been prescribed medication to support behavior management. The youth has never met his mother and has been in foster care the duration of his young life. The youth was beginning to stablish a bond with his biological father who unexpectedly passed away in prison in 2023. The youth continues to struggle with emotional dysregulation and appropriate conflict resolution which often results in verbal and physical altercations at school and verbal disputes at home. DCFS continues to strongly encourage ongoing participation in therapy, however; the youth is in the rapport building stage. This assistance will help support the family during their time of financial needs and simultaneously facilitate the youth having a positive outlet to support emotional regulation. DCFS has assisted the family by providing assistance with clothes, electronics and additional referrals. I am putting together emergency food bags for families during summer school and during the summer. I am needing some help purchasing food items to make up the bags for the families who might be in need. I do not work after June and want items to be available if I am contacted to help. Poverty is high in our area and this is the best way I can think to help. I would like to put in 2gal baggies. I am in need of 6 meat sauce spaghetti sauces, 5 boxes of chicken rice a Roni, 5 cans of chicken, 12 cans of vegetables for the dinner bags. I have 6 things of noodles already. For the children's bags I would like package of 12 count ramen noodles, 12 Vienna sausages, 12 instant oatmeal, 12 count applesauce, 12 count cookies, 20 count of the lemonade or Kool-Aid packages to make gallon drinks. I do not want to make up a lot of bags, but would like some on hand. Willing to accept anything as it will always help students from being hungry. Also have thought about mini popcorn bags for a snack.

A father and his 13 year old daughter are partaking in family therapy with a therapist who does not accept insurance. The therapy sessions are $200 for 60 minutes. The family is unable to afford the therapy long term. If this need is met the family can have another session with this therapist while looking into options that take their insurance.

While he is in the process of applying for financial benefits to help support the children, there are still urgent needs. The caregiver is seeking support with clothing for both boys, including baby clothes. Any assistance with clothing items or gift cards for children’s clothing would be deeply appreciated, especially as he is not currently receiving SNAP benefits. This support would help free up limited funds for groceries and ease the financial strain on the household.

Additionally, the caregiver is in need of two toddler beds and two toddler mattresses to ensure safe and appropriate sleeping arrangements for both boys, as the baby will soon transition into toddlerhood.

A mother is no longer able to take her medication since she cannot afford and no longer able to pay her bills and work. She is taking the steps to get her medication started back up for physical and mental state. Since she is not able to work due to having her disability she is not able to afford her rent. She has an eviction notice and needing to get her rent paid in the next 3 days. She currently has 3 children living in the house, an eight year old, 13 year old, and a 17 year old. She is a single mother and is never late with paying her rent. She could use all the help that she could get in order to prevent homelessness for her family.

A family with a child with special needs (seizure disorder and autism) is seeking assistance for a small portable air conditioner. Initially mom thought that the landlord got this fixed but as the days get hotter the a/c cannot keep up. The child’s seizures worsen with heat and the mom is about to undergo a surgery. Does anyone have a used portable a/c that can be donated? Or can you find it in your heart to donate to this cause?

Single mother (who Emmaus members have been walking alongside) escaping domestic violence from husband along with two kids under the age of 7 years. She is starting over from scratch as they left the house with nothing and has no extended family support. She would like to have a car which would provide transportation so she can get a job so that she can get into housing. We are hoping to provide $3,000 towards a vehicle.
