Story
A young child in DHS custody is placed near the Tulsa county area. He is African American and his long hair requires a high level of care. He would benefit from having his hair in a protective style, such as braids or two strand twists. His hair currently has some knots in it which will need to be detangled as well. Detangling may cost extra at a braider. His foster parent is caring for other children as well as their elderly parent and does not currently have funding or the time needed to take this child to get his hair braided. We are requesting either funding to pay for his hair to be done with a braider, which would be between $95 and $150 dollars, or anyone experienced with African American hair willing to donate their time and services to wash, detangle, and braid his hair for free. This will be needed very soon. Having his hair detangled and braided would greatly improve this child's hygiene and wellbeing.
